Na, I got mine much earlier than that. Although that was in direct response to a phone call, so probably not worth reading into.

The only correspondence I received was after 7:30 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Yeah I'm from Eastern Europe.
What about you?
No news yet...
As I remember someone from here, maybe it was togatoga=colege got accepted at Oxford right? Can you briefly tell about your educational and work background?
Cheers

Hey Tiflis, sure thing. I am final year undergrad, so no real work experience as of yet. I did an internship in one of the big firms in my county. I am top 5%/2% (2nd in my class) - editor of law review. Have two articles published - one in a big journal. Was valedictorian and student council president at high school level. Have some other hobbies which they migh like (debating) etc. Am interested in teaching law. Am also a citizen of US. Do you guys think that would help?

Hey thanks for sharing the info.
Don't know.. my friend got denied although he had 2 masters in law with very high grades, so seems a bit weird - maybe it's because of the money..

Was he American? They normally won't take on Americans if they already have an LLM...
Posted Mar 22, 2010 19:40
No he was from a developing country from East Europe

Well it wouldn't be because of money in Harvard's case. They assure all applicants that, if they are selected, money will not be an issue i.e. they will give them grants and organise loans for them.

Personally, I don't think your citizenship or your high school accomplishments are relevant. I may be wrong, but I would think you are competing against international applicants if your law degree is outside the US, not against US applicants. If that is the case, then your citizenship may not matter.
I'm sure your post-high school qualifications are exceptional, but anything you achieved before college probably will not be considered. But, you never know.

Decisions are supposed to be need-blind anyway.
It's so weird to think that our fates have probably been sealed but they haven't told us yet! Come on Harvard. They must be aware of the rising stress levels if they've put a voicemail on the admissions line.
I want some closure on this process now!

This has been the most useless and frustrating day! I am starting to fear that I have wasted it in vain and will only hear from HLS next Monday.
Posted Mar 22, 2010 19:47
I'm not sure either. They do specifically ask you whether you're a dual citizen on the application form, so I'm curious to see what you guys think: do you reckon it's because there's some advantage to being a dual citizen? I am definitely competing against international applicants, but what of other American applicants? You're probably right in saying that high school accomplishments are not given as much weight, but of course they are "relevant", right? They're trying to assess who you are. The high school years are an inseparable part of one's character and probably especially important in considering the CVs of the undergraduates who are accepted into the LLM, who have yet to gain the work experience that some of the older applicants would have.

Next Monday is exceptionally late compared to previous years. I hope it's not.
Didn't some people have a Columbia response deadline today?
eta: togatoga - presumably citizenship affects the type of financial aid that can be offered, so perhaps this is why?

Yeah, I certainly saw some chat about that.
Posted Mar 22, 2010 19:50
Anyway, dual citizenship is probably just another factor to be considered along with one's application. It probably doesn't decisively determine which category of applicants you fall into.

Also, I totally agree with you guys re the frustration. I can't stands it no more!
