Thank you! I don't think I was on a waiting list. GW admit applicants on a rolling basis.
My background : I got my Master's degree in France in 2010 and worked for three years as a counsel in the aviation department of an insurance company in Paris. I've been interning in a law firm in DC since september 2013.
Cheers!

Just got admitted. They say that they will get back on the scholarship by 31 March. Anybody else who received this additional information in their admission letter?

Congratulations Kutty!
I have been notified that scholarship decisions are likely to be made early March.
Cheers

I have been informed that the committee is reviewing the scholarship applications and that we will get an answer by next week.

We'll let us know for the scholarship then !
One question though. I am a bit concerned about the GW scandal of 2012. I know it's back in the rankings and everything but do you think lawyer's firm now have a bad image of GW ?
Thanks !

I have been admitted by GW too. However I got admission from Duke and GT too. I am not sure which one should I choose. Could you guys help me please?

Lucie. This is a real concern among employers. But GW law school is still well-regarded.

I'm hoping to hear from them on the scholarship decision in the next two days or so. Did anyone hear from them yesterday?
Posted Mar 18, 2014 14:59
Nothing so far...
Posted Mar 18, 2014 22:00
GW let me know that we won't hear back from them before March 31. Which would leave 15 days to take out a loan. SO professional.
WTF

Did any one of you wanted to take the NY bar exam?
The GWU office told me you can't have a specialized LLM AND take the courses necessary for the NY bar exam. That's definitely not helping to make a decision !

May I ask about loan possibilities? Do you plan to take it out in your country or from the US bank? I heard that its possible to take out a loan in the US without a co-signer (with about 7%) but I'm not sure which banks provide this service exactly. Or what other funding options there might be...

Quite frankly, I have no idea. I think it would be better to take out a loan in the USA in case whatever is the currency of your country collapses. But you would definitely need a US co-signer

LucieLD,
Are you sure? Is an LLM in International Law considered a specialized LLM?
They know that most foreign LLM applicants plan to sit for the NY bar exam. I could not believe that they won't let them take the required courses

Here is the message I received
"About the New York Bar, usually if you want to take the classes needed to qualify for the New York Bar, you CANNOT also do a specialization like IP Law. There is not enough room in the schedule to meet the criteria for both. You would have to do "general" to be able to get all the right classes. I strongly encourage you to discuss your goals with the Director, Ms. Joshi, to find out which would be the right path for you."
If you have any doubt regarding your specilization, you should probably email Melisma Cox or the Director
Let's keep in touch...

I don't think it would anyway bar you from taking the exam. You would still meet the requirements as a foreign attorney. Provided ofcourse, you qualify- 520.6 (b) 1) and 2) of the Rules of the Court of Appeals for the Admission of Attorneys and Counselors at Law.
You should check on the rules amended in 2012 from the NY Bar website itself. http://www.nybarexam.org/Rules/Rules.htm#520.6
The LLM guide article that you had pointed out earlier is outdated (2009).
