Georgetown vs Northwestern

Hi,

How many of you have chosen Georgetown over Northwestern? Can you elaborate the basis for your decision?

I am confused between the two and need help in making the decision. I am a foreign student with plans for long term employment in US. Employment is the primary decision driver.

That would depend on your plan for the future. If you intend working Government or International Organizations (yay for Tax-free income!) in DC, then GT is the obvious choice. LLM students have a good shot at the Word Bank, OEA, Embassies...

If you would rather work for a law firm dealing in matters that include public relations, administrative, lobbying or anything government-related, GT is also your best choice.

For private practice in law firms or in-house counsel, NW seems like a better fit.

I believe it also depends on which area you are interested.
I am choosing NW over Georgetown because I believe NW has is much more modern and has a different perspective while Georgetown is more tradittional.
Besides that, I prefer Chicago than Washington, specially because NW's neighborhood is better.

I agree that, if landing a job with an IO is your chief objective, GT enjoys a better location. NU has a fantastic location and is consistently ranked #2 for corporate law. Tough choice, but don't be fooled by the rankings. It makes much more sense to follow your academic interests
