Georgetown or GWU?

Same old, same old. Yeah, I know, but I am highly concerned about this decision, and couldn't miss the opportunity to ask you guys your opinion about it. I've read everything in this forum about these universities, and I am still pretty confused.

I know it is quite impossible to give a straight answer in this case - there are many factors to be considered - but I'd be glad to read some general impressions.

I was admitted by both universities to the General LL.M program. I found it the best choice, since I'd like to sit for the NY Bar Exam after I graduate, and stay there one more year for the Optional Practical Training (and, with a huge amount of luck, maybe get a real job).
The pros and cons are well known. Georgetown's reputation is definitely better than GWU's reputation. But it seems to me that it stops right here. I've been doing some good research, and I haven't found anything to complain about GWU (except for the ranking, of course). It is almost 10k dollars cheaper than GT, and there is also the possibility for me to get a scholarship, since they have one kind of scholarship that is only for brazilians, therefore I guess my chances are good.
One thing I'd also like to consider is the career assistance and opportunities in DC job market (Externships, OPT and jobs). How much does Georgetown's name will affect my resume? What university provides the best service regarding career assistance?
And last, but not least, is Georgetown unconditionally seen as the highest level university in DC? I've read somewhere that the joke in DC is that GW stands for "Georgetown Waitlist". It wouldn't be a great idea for me to attend a university that is seen as a secondary option, since I have the possibility to choose between both.

I know it is a very tough decision, no doubts about that. I am seriously considering to just flip a coin and let it decide for me.

I'd appreciate any comments on the topic. Thank you very much!

I can definitely tell you this. Georgetown Law(GULC) offers a variety of externship/internship to students including LLMs. It includes DOJ, SEC, FTC, some big law firms, NGOs et cetera. I have no idea how much GW cares their students. But, a great number of LLM students in GULC does have chances to apply for externship and internship in spring semester. One of my friends joined to do externship at SEC.

I have never attempted to get a job in DC. So, it may be not perfect answers for you. In general, the ranking of schools is a quite serious factor to job seekers and employers. Earning LL.M. degree does not guarantee your job in the US. Generally speaking...If I were you, I would not hesitate to go to GULC unless you are under the pressure of tuition and living expenses. GULC has lots of Brazilian students. I bet you may enjoy the life at GULC. GULC has more than 300 LLMs from all over the world. The huge number of students and alumni would benefit your networking in the future.

I am not telling you that GW is bad. It is one of the well known nationwide schools and located in Foggy bottom where rich people live.

Frankly, I have graduated from GULC LLM recently. So, it might be not objective to you. But, I bet you will have various advantages if you join GULC. Try to search and join the GULC admitted students' Facebook club. I guess GULC create the FB club for newcomers.

The joke you mentioned is quite funny. I have never heard of it. Thanks for making me laugh. lol
