Georgetown/Northwestern

Hi everybody..

I am very interested in applying to the Law Schools mentioned above. But the problem is that my IBT score was 82, way under the minimum score that these schools request(100). Georgetown's deadline for early action is November 14th and I ran out of time to register in time for the next toefl so I guess that leaves me no choise but to send that score.

I do have a score background though, but the question is if its still worth trying?

Thank you.

You should definitively apply, and then tell them that you will report your Toefl score as soon as avaliable. I'm working in DC right now, and a lot of people I met recommended GU Law Center. Also Northwestern has a great law school, perhaps even better than GU according to USNews rankings. I have applied there for a master in human rights...let's see whether or not I will be admitted...good luck

Thank you Stagista,
But do you still think that with my low score my chances of getting in are lost?

honestly I didn't hear anything from NW so long, so I couldn't tell you if they will accept my 91 score. Harvard and UChicago asked me to retake the test, while Yale and Duke didn't ask such request. I think it depends on your records and resume

I'd retake the Toefl and apply regular action rather than submit the low score and apply early action. Once your application is in, they're going to have that low score in mind even if you submit a better one later
