Congratulations for the scholarship everyone!
Any idea how many scholarships in total do they award?

not sure but just received one a few hours ago, so they are possibly still distributing some scholarships

Hi everyone,

I received yesterday an offer for a scholarship of $25,000 usd. I am admitted to the Taxation LLM. Nevertheless, I am probably rejecting it. I am not sure yet, because I am still waiting for other admision offers... So, if you are admitted to the Tax LLM, and haven't received any scholarship offer (and of course, assuming that the scholarships were already distributed, which is a probably wrong assumption) there is still a chance.

Best of luck for everyone!

By the way, if someone is insterested the deadline to accept/reject the scholarship is 1st April.

The email says:

Dear Mr. XXX

I am pleased to inform you that you have been awarded a partial tuition scholarship for your Master of Laws (LL.M.) studies at Georgetown Law during the 2018-2019 academic year. This scholarship will provide you with a total award of $25,000. The award will be applied toward your tuition in equal installments, one half at the beginning of each semester of your studies here at Georgetown University Law Center. You are one of a small group of students selected to receive a scholarship, and were chosen based on the strength of your application and our hope that you will become a part of next year's class.

I am enclosing a scholarship response form which I would ask you to complete, sign and return to the attention of Leandra Jones in the Graduate Admissions Office. The deadline to return the form accepting your scholarship is April 1. However, if you do make your decision sooner than that, it would be helpful if you return the form once you have decided, so we have a better idea of our ability to make additional scholarship offers to other deserving candidates.

Hi all. has anyone received general merit scholarships for the general and international legal studies LLM courses? It looks like most of the scholarships on this thread are linked to the taxation LLM program.

I am worried that they are coming out with general merit scholarship result first and simultaneously evaluating the specific scholarship, so by the time they award the specific scholarship, the general merit scholarships would already have been awarded so the people that don't get specific scholarship would not be considered for general merit later. Any idea about this?

An interesting observation and something I have also given a lot of thought. My sense is that an application to a specific scholarship will not prejudice the general merit award process. It is very likely that a separate committee assesses the topic specific scholarships. That said, there must be some degree of joint consideration given the fact that a successful consideration in both respects may end up in award in excess of the total tuition amount! If it is of any comfort to you, I believe that the general merit process is still ongoing and that, in particular, the international arbitration scholarships have not yet been awarded. I would hope that we all get finality by the end of this week. Good luck.

thanks.

Deadlines for other scholarships are fast approaching (1 April), still no word from Georgetown. Disappointing!

Also received partial scholarship yesterday, that leaves us with the IA scholarship- wonder if that process will be finalised before the deadline?
