Funding the LLM

nauy96llm

Hi guys, this post might sound stupid, but it is intended for people that, like me, is struggling with financing the LLM.

Personal situation: USD 20k (savings) + USD 20k (family help) + potentially a monthly help to cover food and other expenses. I'm seeking to receive a scholarship too; probably not that good but still...

With this situation, I'm thinking of taking a loan of USD 50k. Most likely from a local bank. Eventually from Prodigy or similar sources. Prodigy's rate interests almost quadruples the total amount to be finally paid... it's insane.

If any of you is in a similar situation and want to help me out with this, I very much appreciate it!

I'm also in the same boat. I wrote to the schools where I got admitted and asked if they could give me a higher tuition waiver/aid. I intend to get a loan from relatives to avoid a high interest rate after the LLM.

Please don’t spend $90k on an LLM. The ROI just isn’t worth it. The only schools that might possibly be worth anything close to that are HYSOC + maybe NYU for tax. And that’s only MAYBE. If the schools you’re considering don’t offer significant scholarships, go to another school or just don’t do an LLM. Taking a prodigy loan for an LLM sounds incredibly unwise.
