Guys,

Any Fulbright grantee in this forum? I will like to know if anyone has received news related with the academic PRE LLM, that is usually attended by Fulbrighters.

I heard that in prvious years the grantees attended this program in Georgetown, but this year I dont have information about it.

From what I heard, it depends on which school you enroll. If you study in the east, you will probably be assigned to GULC. If you go to a law school in the west, maybe you will be asked to join the summer program at UC Davis.

From the following link, you can see that GULC will provide a pre course only for their admitted students and Fulbright grantees this year. I assume that we will get to know where we will go in late May.

The Summer program isn't mandatory though, is it? I got in to GULC and while the program looks really interesting, there's no way I can give up a month of work when the scholarship is so small (relative to the cost of the program that is! Not to be ungrateful...)

Also, have you already heard from Fulbright? I was told I would hear today or soon thereafter.

Well, I think it is mandatory, but I don´t know if its going to be available this year for all the fulbright students due to budget cuts.

Have you received any confirmation related with PRE LLM Courses?

Akitz: when you asked if we have heard about them, you meant about the LLM or PRELLM program?

I meant to ask whether people had heard about getting the scholarship itself - or is that old hat and you guys have already been awarded the scholarships?

At the present time, all Fulbright candidates are only "candidates" waiting to be approved by J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FSB) in late May or June. After the approval, "candidate" becomes "grantee". So, candidates are not awarded scholarship at this time.

Hi Putou, thanks for the clarification. I haven't received news either and was starting to worry that no news was bad news.

I'm Canadian (though studying in the UK) and the Can/US Fulbright timeline said they'd get back to us on or around April 15th! But if everyone else hears back closer to June, that would explain why we still haven't gotten any word.

Hi!

Well, I am completely confused. I was also told that we'll receive the news by the middle of April, and the only thing that I've heard so far is that IIE has sent my application to four universities (international dispute resolution programmes at George Washington, Missouri-Columbia, Pepperdine and Miami).. I still have no idea whether I will be accepted, although I did rather well on the TOEFL test (112 iBT).. But if pre-LLM courses are starting in July, how are we supposed to organize our trip to the US if we don't receive any information before June? I'm from Montenegro, so I'll definitely need some time to prepare..

As far as the money is concerned - as far as I understand, the amount of money you receive will depend on the city you'll be studying in, but I guess it should cover all the basic needs.. No info on the actual amounts, though.

I know that we can't receive the official notification before the final decision has been made, but is there any way to get at least a hint of what our chances are and at which institutions we might be finally placed? Of course that I am grateful for this great opportunity, but the waiting is driving me insane :)

Hi, I would suggest you to talk to your program place officer. They are really nice (write to IIE).

@Milos, let me know when you get news and I'll do the same. The waiting is driving me crazy too!!

I want to call the program officer but they said "on or about April 15th" so I don't want to be too pushy!

@Milos88 - didn't get it. Apparently they've sent out the confirmation emails and rejection by snail mail. At least that's how our branch did it.

@akitz - I'm really sorry to hear that :( This kind of uncertainty really makes it impossible to plan anything..

I have received an email saying that "all of your admission decisions have been finalized. Could you please review the following programs and announces his ranking order from among these programs".. This still doesn't mean that I have received the scholarship, but I honestly hope that they wouldn't ask me to review the programs just to tell me that they were kidding.. But LOL, nothing can surprise me anymore.

And on an unrelated topic, if anyone can help me make up my mind between these two programs, please drop me PM/email:
