Hi I'm an engineer/business person in Canada and I want to get into LLM in a top US school for education and personal development. Wondering what I should do to increase my chances of getting in. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
1. I graduated from a top Canadian University with a Bachelor's Degree on Engineering.
2. Grades: I did well for the 4th yr of university, but did average for the first 3 years.
3. I worked for a few years as an engineer and then I started my own company and acted as a business person. My company is doing quite well in the province.
4.Financial: I'm able to pay for tuition and so on, but I'm not able to make any "donation" to US schools.
5. I have no intention of becoming a lawyer, but a law degree from a top US school will be beneficial for my company and myself.
Question:
Can an engineer/business person get into an LLM of a top US schools? (Harvard's LLM claims that their students incude "business men and women", but I don't know if that's true)

You can't apply to any LLM program because you have no law degree.
Only ppl with law degree (BA in Law, LLB/JD) can apply and be admitted to LLM (Master of Law)

A classmate of mine got into a master of law program after taking certain courses. He has the same engineering degree as mine, but this is in Canada, and our program is very hard to get into.
So I guess things are different in the states?

I dunno about Canada
In USA you only can apply for LLM (which is advance law degree) if you already have law degree (LLB/JD)
you can apply for masters in legal studies (or something like this) BUT this will not let you practice law, that program is just for broaden the view point

Thanks for the comments.
Master of Legal Studies (MLS) might be what I'm looking for. I will do some research on that :)
