Hi Guys,
I have an upper second class honours (2.1 at 65% average) Law (LLB) degree from the U.K. I have applied to do the New York Bar Course in a couple of weeks in order to sit the New York bar exam in february 2009. Currently, I am applying to do an LLM in the United States (Chicago, UPenn, Michigan, Texas and Virginia). However, my main motivation is to get a job in the United States...I know everyone keeps saying it's difficult to get a job in the US without a J.D...but is this really the case? My LLB is equivalent to a JD surely? I speak fluent Japanese, and am conversational in French, I have won moot advocacy prizes and also have SUMMER work experience. I do not have main job experience as I have been a student throughout since I am only 21 years old now.
What are the prospects of employment afterwards, I am not entirely fussed if I am not at a top law firm within new york, I can live with being at a mid-sized firm...any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
