Mit dem "oder" im Betreff hast Du Dich partiell enttarnt.

My noble friends!
Thank you for your remarks!
Without the intention of being impolite or causing any sort of psycological harm to any of you, I kindly request you to write in English, so that everyone reading this post understands! (I am aware of being the culprit for including a German expression in the title of the post...)
Any thoughts about US News rankings?
Thank you for your remarks!

Why?

Why?
since you queried about usnews ranking, michigan is more highly ranked than duke. depending on where you are from, in my country for example, michigan is more highly regarded. but they are very close and this is a matter of personal choice. i don't think you can make a bad choice.

Yes: it is the unquestioned essence of life for most of our dear colleagues on this board. It determines the happiness in their lifes and the deemed likelihood of their personal future career with a top law firm in NYC. Hail to the US News Ranking, mates!
In my opinion it rather is a list of law schools.

My Noble Friend Wedge,
Believe it or not NY law firms DO give consideration as to the rank of the given law school in US News.
I have seen a recruiting material with my own eyes THAT WAS AND IS USED FOR INTERVIEWS which was based on those rankings.
However, a professional in the recruiting business also told me, that if you are in any top ten school you do stand a somewhat equal chance indeed!

Thanks, but I'm not noble. Just some rational guy planning his LL.M. -- and yaaaaaaaawning loudly because these ranking discussions make me feel so tired. And so unwilling to participate in them.
Good luck to you in making your decision!

I think both schools are great - however, any decision should depend on your specialty and on specific course offerings. For instance, I have heard that UMich has a good curriculum in International Law.
On the other hand (and this is not an academic argument), I would not wish a winter in Ann Arbor to my worst enemy...

yeah, being in a top 10 school is very important, and this applies whether you want to work in the US or abroad.
