Niubility, I've never been in the waiting list.
I had a conference call last Friday, and after taking for 30 minutes with a very nice proffesor, I was accepted. They sent ne an acceptance email.
But do not lose hope!!!!

I know that Duke is a great law school, with a small program and I had no doubt about my choice until yesterday when I was admitted to Berkeley.
Berkeley has a better reputation, above all in Europe (I am from Italy), but I am interested in corporate and business law (not IP or HR) so I still have some doubts.
Moreover LLM students at Duke can attend a great summer program to prepare themselves for the big year.
On the contrary I saw that Berkeley doesnt have a summer program.
Any advices?

I have been admitted to Duke, Cornell and Berkeley (as of yesterday). I have been looking through forums like this for most of today and have come to the conclusion that it would be better to choose Berkeley over either Duke or Cornell.

Sure, Berkeley is best for IP and Environmental Law and is not as well know for its corporate law, but we are not comparing Berkeley and Columbia or Berkeley and NYU. Duke and Cornell simply are not as prestigious as Berkeley and whilst they have a heavy corporate focus, they do not have corporate law programs that are so strong that would make up for an otherwise lower ranked school. If you attend Duke or Cornell you will be competing at a slight disadvantage against graduates from higher ranked universities in every market, whether it is NYC, Chicago or California. On the other hand, if you're a Berkeley graduate you will have an easier time finding a job in the Californian market than you would as a Cornell or Duke graduate in the NYC market.

Internationally, although Cornell and Duke both seem to enjoy a significant amount of "lay prestige", I would say that Berkeley still has a better reputation. The ARWU ranked Berkeley at 3rd in the world. Even though this ranking is not specifically directly at law, it's still a good measure of the reputation of the university in general.

I am also interested in corporate law. I have been working at a corporate law firm in Australia for the past year and intend on continuing to do so after I graduate from the LLM. It's true that had I gotten in to Columbia (missed the deadline) or maybe Penn (wait listed) I would have a tougher time choosing between those and Berkeley. However, with Duke, the decision I believe is fairly clear.

Furthermore, I don't think I have seen anyone on any of the forums say that they have chosen Cornell or Duke over Berkeley. This says something about the students that will be attending each of these schools, right?
