I've applied Columbia Early Review and Georgetown Early Action. Finally I've received email and mail from those schools today. Both of them informed me that my application has been defered to regular process.
It is really killer anxiety for me. Is this defer opimistic or not??
Who has experienced the same situation?

I received the same notice from CLS. They infomred me in reply to my inquiry that chances of admission through a regular process is no less compared with those who simply apply through regular process without early review application. We can and should still be optimistic!!!

I would think that they have not had a chance to look at your application yet, but the deadline to make a decision for an early admission cycle has already passed. As a friend of mine who went to CLS suggested they will basically look at your application in the regular admssion process, which means you have the same chance as everyone else.

Just got my deferral notice from CLS (by email). Has anyone received a rejection notice from CLS in this early stage?

A friend of mine received the rejection notice on the same day I received the admission notice....December 23rd 2007...that's why I didn't celebrate my admission, I was very disappointed that he could not make it.
As to the deferral notice, you still have the same opportunities, so: good luck!

I applied for Columbia Early Review and received an email on Dec 27 informing me that my application has been deferred to regular process.
Has anybody whose application has been deferred heard from Columbia yet?

I had been deferred to the regular cycle as well. The wait was agonizing and I was starting to give up hope, as I wasn't able to find a post of anyone being admitted after the defer in the previous year's posts, BUT I got an acceptance e-mail from columbia today! Guys, don't give up.
Best wishes for everyone!

I also got deferred to the regular review. According to previous posts, I should get an answer in April since I just graduated last year!
