Cornell?

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if there was anyone who still hasn't heard back from Cornell yet? On their status tracking website, it still says that my application is complete but I haven't heard anything since February-- and I'm holding on to other offers which I'll need to get back to in the next couple of days! And it's just annoying since Cornell is probably one of my top choices!

Also, to those of you who have gotten into Cornell, until what date did they give you to respond to them? Is Cornell accepting people on a rolling basis-- and giving people different dates to respond to them by?

Thanks a lot!!!!

Same here, but the status checker indicates that "As of 02/05/2010 your application status is: Applied".

3 weeks ago, I was told that my status would change to "complete" witht a few days.

It still hasn't changed.

Tried calling today but the line is busy.

They are driving me mad as I have other pending offers and I feel bad asking them for more time to make up my mind (which they grant me though)

Hi all,

I have sent all supporting documents to Cornell via Fedex and ordered official Toefl score on Jan 18, 2010. However, my application status has just been turned to complete this morning.

Anyone can tell me how long I should expect to get decision from them.

Thanks in advance.

Probably a very long time...?

I still haven't heard back from Cornell yet, and I emailed them the other day and they told me that there wasn't anything they could tell me and also that they couldn't fast-track my application, although I have to pay another deposit at another university in a week and a bit!

Has anyone else heard anything from Cornell lately??

Lads,

I got accepted to Cornell a couple of weeks ago. They hadn't change my online status in a few months after my applications, I emailed one of the various deans and he replied saying they'd get to my application in due course and I should hear pretty soon. Within a few days, the status changed to "under review" or similar, and I had my offer within two weeks. They set a postmark deadline for the deposit of a fortnight after they send out the letter of acceptance, but if you phone them and explain you need a bit more time to sort out bank-drafts etc. then they extend it by a week.

Hope this helps and best of luck to all.

I am only writing to express my disappointment : Since I would be out of my mind or just really determined to go to Cornell, I have given up on my application. I applied in January and after numerous e-mails, they bothered to reply and ask me to be patient because they had many applications to examine (hence my application status remained for almost 3 months "applied"). A couple of weeks ago they "were delighted to inform me that my application was complete and that I should hear from them in 8-12 weeks"!!! Apparently, Cornell is the only university that announces admission decisions a few weeks before classes start and expects international students to manage to issue visas in a few days... And you would think that it should live up to its name and treat students with some respect. Maybe I am not good enough for Cornell and they think that I am not worth their time and respect. Puts things into an interesting perspective, doesn't it?

I was in the exact same situation as you are (applied in January, status turned complete only 2 weeks ago) and just recieved a letter two days ago saying I was waitlisted.
It shouldn't take 8-12 weeks as the letter I recieved was dated April 29th while my status turned to complete on April 21.
I don't want to make any false predictions about how long your wait should be, just don't torture yourseld with the whole "good enough for them thing". It might come sooner than you think.
I do agree with you on visas though, especially as a girl from the admissions office told me that the final decisions regarding the waitlist would be made "during the summer", without anymore precision.

Good luck on your admissions !

Hi all,

I am in a similar situation, I applied for Cornell on a couple days before deadline (by the end of January). 10 weeks later, I was informed that there was some missing document and I did need to send it asap, eventually it turned to complete on April 27 and on their website clearly stated that please allow them for around 8-12 weeks to give me the notification.

It means that I have to wait until the end of June? Are they kidding me? It is most unlikely for me to obtain visa and prepare before attending the school.

I really have no idea what should I do as I have just received offer from George Washington and the deadline will due within 2 weeks. I am also on UCLA's waitlist and I propose that the result will be announced since the middle of May.

Should I write e-mail to Cornell to expedite their process? or any advices?

Thanks

As I and a few others have said above, it doesn't take as long as they warn. Hopefully you'll know within a few weeks.

All the best.

I've actually tried to get Cornell to fast track my application bc I've been paying deposits for another law school, but what they told me in an email is basically that they can't let me know where my application is at, or fast track it, and that I'll just have to wait until my online tracker turns to 'decision'.... but maybe you'll manage to have better luck than I did!
