Hi,
Has anyone sent 3 letters of recommendation to Columbia? They say that they prefer only 2 letters and, if you want to send a third, you have to explain why. I would like to send 3 letters (2 professionals and 1 academic), but I am not sure if this will have a negative impact on my application.

Since they say they strongly prefer only two letters, I would choose the strongest professional letter and send it together with the academic one.

Thanks for your answer. You are probably right. In my case, the 2 letters complement each other, so I will have to decide whether to chose only one of them or not. One of them is from an LLM alumni (who can speak from experience) with whom I have worked ocassionally, and the other from a supervisor, who knows me better.
