Does anyone know any details about the Associate programme at COlumbia. E.g. does it have to be for two years, or will one suffice. The website says they prefer 2 but does anyone know how it works and what they look for?
Thanks.

Normally LLM / JSD students get this position at Columbia, although it is not a requirement. The Associates-in-Law Program is designed for individuals seriously considering a career in law teaching. Associates attend workshops and seminars like full-time faculty members. They also have to perform some teaching duties. The duration of the program is 2 yrs, but can be one yr in some cases.
It is very very competitive. LLM/JSD students selected for this program normally have distictions in their previous law degrees and undergrad programs. Some associates also have advanced graduate degrees including Doctorates, especially those who are not enrolled in LLM or JSD.
Regards.
