Guys,
I'm a corporate lawyer in Brazil and have been admitted to both CLS and NW LL.M/K. Honestly, I am not sure which one I should choose.
Fortunately, costs are not a problem and I would be willing to pay the USD65k at NW LL.M/K (as a matter of fact I believe the annual budget to attend either one would be very similar due to NY's very high living costs).
I acknowledge CLS' better position in law school rankings but also acknowledge that both are top 10 law schools. Is CLS' reputation in fact much better than NW's in the U.S? Would it really make a difference for job seach after completion of LL.M program?
Do you guys know if CLS would allow the LL.M students to take more than the 6 credits in courses at the B-School upon payment of additional fee?
I would appreciate if anyone could give me his/hers insights on the matter.
Rgds.

No, it will not make such a big difference, if you are not a rank whore.... Choose the university, which suits to your individual preference better (class size, courses, student/faculty-ratio etc.)

What? It won't make a difference if YOU are a ranking whore, but it WILL make a difference if law-firm RECRUITERS are ranking whores--and believe me, to a certain extent, they are.
To answer the original questions:
Yes, there is a huge difference between CLS and Northwestern in the US, at least for Americans/JDs
In fact, it won't make a difference to LLMs for job-search, but mainly because there are no jobs...!

no, it does not matter. both law schools are top. thing is only that living in NYC is more expensive. it's unclear, if the ivy brand pays off the costs of living in NYC.
concerning the job perspectives, you should consider joing business outside of usa or start a JD in the first place. you have virtually no perspective, to work in the USA without JD.
