I'm a final year student. They asked me to call them yesterday and on the phone they asked me why I wanted to do the LL.M. now... Stressing the fact that they give strong preference to people who have 1 year prof. experience.
I guess it's already a good sign that they asked me to call, it means they at least considered my application :-)
Now wait and see...

Hi Cecilia_A,
What kind of marks/grades do you have? What uni do you go to?
Congrats on Chicago and Columbia!

I study in Brussels and in summary i'm first of my class with summa cum laude.
Thanks for your congratulations! But may I remind you I'm still waiting for CLS's answer ;-)
Good luck to all of you (and to me :D)

I really dont know what is worst. The acceptance of other law schools or the felling that nobody is answering you...

I am thinking that we (the defered ones) will not hear from CLS before mid- March, because early admited applicants have a March 10 deadline, thus, CLS will know only know after that date how many spots are available.

How many people do you think Columbia has admitted in the early applicant pool? 50? 100? 150?
It looks like the regular applicant pool is going to be be really tough to get into.

I don't know, but it seems to me that around 90% of the admitted students until this moment in Columbia were early applicants. I haven't heard many acceptances in Jan or Feb.

Can I ask what you told them, why you wanted to do the LLM now?

I've received the acceptance letter along with the parcel with information material from CLS yesterday (still waiting for the letters from HLS, SLS and Berkeley).
About me: Fulbright fellow from Switzerland. Submitted the applications last November (indirectly through IIE). Some work experience as a lawyer (more than 4 years), regular legal publications, some teaching experience. decent grades in law school.
Good luck to all of you. Maybe we'll see us in NY (or elsewhere) this fall.

Swissy, were you deferred from early review?

I don't have a clue.
The acceptance parcel was the only message I've received from CLS. I haven't received a "your admission is complete" nor a "deferral " email or the like.
However, it might well be that IIE received something in this regard.
