CLS regular cycle accecptance has been released

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine who also applied to CLS (regular cycle) told me yesterday that she had already received an offer from CLS.

Has anyone else who only applied to CLS (regular cycle) received an offer too??

I'm getting worried and wondering if this offer is on a rolling basis cos I submitted the application very close to the deadline.

Thanks!

It is rather curious that people from regular cycle should be receiving their results whereas a deferred candidate from early review as me has not. If they operate rolling, early apps should receive their results first...

Hi Crimlawyer:

I was thinking that maybe they are "comparing" us with the regular cycle applicants; therefore, we could be among the last to recive notices :(

(just an idea)

I agree with you. It just seems to me that even if they were comparing us, they seem to have had an overall view of the candidates, since they are releasing results already.

what happened to me was first, i sent my rec letters and transcripts by courier. and then i submitted my online application. and then i suddenly realized i had to submit a certification form by courier, and that i couldn't do that online. so i sent the cert form by courier maybe 2 days after my first package. so gosh, i think that's causing the delay. anyway, if they can't find it, they should just email me, and not take one month to look for it. more efficient that way. haha!

I guess now they are reviewing the regular cycle applicants and are giving offers to only those who meet their criteria more than those who have been deferred. However, the deferred candidates are definitely not rejected, they will be reviewed again as they now form a part of the regular cycle.

Good luck to all!

Dear Bowen,
If you applied so early in November why weren't you treated as an early admission applicant?
I just wonder, for I am a regular cycle applicant, and I'm trying to figure out if the decisions are made on a rolling basis, when will I be receiving my decision.
Thank you,

Dear Bug,

I think this section of the Columbia Law site explains your question:

Early Review Program
Applicants for admission to our 2009-2010 LL.M. program, except those who are in their final year of law school in their home countries and reapplicants from 2008-2009, have the option of applying through the Early Review Program. If you wish to be considered under the Early Review Program you must (1) submit your application online we will not accept paper applications for the Early Review Program, and (2) specify that you wish to be considered for Early Review by checking the appropriate box on the online application form. All application materials, including supporting documents and TOEFL scores, must be postmarked by November 3, 2008. If all materials are not postmarked by November 3, 2008, you will automatically be considered for admission in the regular cycle.

Hi everyone,

For those who are curious. A friend of mine is from South East Asia, received 1st class honors, 107 toefl score and now working in a top tier law firm. I'm not sure but I think my friend submitted her application around the same time as Bowen.

Bowen, could you please tell us a little bit on your qualification like your toefl score and any other credential?

And, by the way, congrats!!! ^-^

you must be having excellent grades and a very appealing statement of purpose too other than your good toefl score to get in coz you dont have any experience.

Well done and good luck to you once again...:), i have sent my application on the last day, I dont know when i will get the results, though i received a very quick confirmation email of 'application compelete'.

Yeah, I think so,too. I am from China and there is no one around me who has received ad from CLS. Maybe we have to wait till the middle of Feb. to see if anything will happen.
