Chances at tax programs?

I am at a tier 1 school, top half grades (good but not great grades in 2 tax classes taken so far - will have taken 6 tax classes by graduation), law journal, volunteered with VITA during the year, working in a paid clerkship with the US Tax Court this summer in DC, Bachelors in accounting from a very reputable undergrad.

I'm wondering what my chances will be with the increased apps this year to get into G-town, UF, NW, Miami, UVA, Duke?

Any insight or suggestions on how to make myself more marketable (other than the obvious - "work on your grades") would be greatly appreciated. TYIA.

If you want to start a program in August 2009, I don't think your chances are very good. Application deadlines have passed so I am assuming that either you didn't submit an application or you did submit but haven't heard anything.

As he still have to take 6 tax classes I suppose he's got one more year of studies to go :)

I think your record is good already, with sufficient amount of side-events. You should certainly try to get (very) good grades on the tax courses and you might have a (good) chance in most of those schools.

Good luck Sweetheart. You sound pretty insecure to me. Do you always plead your cases on the mercy of the court? Then again, I am a woman and what would I know about insecure men, except how to avoid them?

Do you also avoid insecure women? I don't know how immature psychoanalysis is helpful here. I would say instead that "fortune favors the bold." (Virgil)

Qui timide rogat, docet negare.

Is that more to your liking Q? Am I back in line now with your thinking that women and children should be seen but not heard? All I did was point out the obvious while all the male posters were patting his behind with baby powder. Are we friends now Q?

For what it's worth, I think you'll get in somewhere. It will probably be hard at GULC and NYU, though, unless you go to a top 25 school. On the other hand, the admissions pool might be less competitive for Fall 2010.
