It's true that the American Law program covers a wide range of topics while the Banking and Finance one is much more specific and may favor academic questions...

Hi all,
Could any one tell me what the status of BU applicants is when they are as to set up a phone interview? are all applicants or only shortlisted ones subjected to that interview?
Thanks for your answer.

They usually contact you within 1 or 2 weeks after your application is complete and I think the interview is a requirement for all applicants.
I just did mine yesterday...wish me luck!

FYI: i just took the phone interview with Mr. Martin from BU last Friday. They will inform me of their decision by this Friday. Mr. Martin's words "I am very satisfied with the interview..." and "We probably meet you here in August..." give me a good hint on my interview outcome.

To Lux Tax,
The questions asked in my interview are quite simple such as:
1. can you describe your work?
2. How many lawyers are there in your law firm?
3. Is there any securities market in your country?
4. What are your difficulties while working in banking and financial law?
The interview lasted about 25 minutes. During the interview, i was quite calm and relax and tried to show, in answering the above questions, that the BU program matches with my interests and plans of study.
Hope it helps.

Thanks!
So would you agree in saying that it was just an intw to get a good sense of your english speech grasp as well as further info on your interest to the program? rather than checking on credentials etc (stuff already include in your application material in principle)?

I agree with your assumption.

Please advise what is the work load like. Which are the most highly sought courses? Would you recommend any reading material before classes commence? Any one from India joining this program? Thanks in advance.

Hi folks,
I have my phone intw schedule very soon.
I would like to have some insight about the intw from someone who applied to the Ta LLM. Please provide with type/sample of questions? were they academical, work related, ...?
Your help is more than appreciated here
Thanks

Hi there..
I took the phone interview for the B&F Program last week. I think the interview went well considering the interviewer indicated that he was satisfied. I hope this is not the standard drill and the decision ends up being negative.
Any experiences of this kind?
Also, if you are not admitted - is there a way to be reconsidered?
Thanks

Hi everyone,
I too have an interview scheduled for the American Law program at BU and was wondering if anyone had information as to the calibre of the program, its reputation, career prospects etc.
If karenllm is out there, i appreciate all the info you gave about the interview and was just wondering in terms or your application where you completed your law degree. I completed mine from the UK less than a year ago so my work experience is comparatively limited.
thanks for all the help! :)

Has anyone got info on the housing arrangements in Boston?
Ive been surfing but not able to pin down an apartment. What are the preferred areas to live in terms of distance from law school, pricing, safety?

I would look for Back Bay, Fenway, Allston, Brookline...
BU's housing resources on campus are limited!
Good luck
