Hey everyone!
I have read all the info on Berkeley's website regarding their LLM programs, however I would appreciate it if some of you could share their personal experiences or knowledge.
Upon application I will have:
- LL.B. European Law, GPA 3.1 (Netherlands)
- LL.M. Corporate Law, GPA 3.9 (Netherlands)
- Roughly 1 year work experience due to internships at an international law firm in Frankfurt, Germany
- Extracurricular activities such as being a local Board Member at an association, Debating Society, Membership at Mensa International, Moot Court participation
I already asked Berkeley regarding the JD and they replied that they would only look at my Bachelor GPA and consider my Master a "plus". A 3.1 is probably not enough so that option falls out anyways.
I wonder how my chances are of being admitted to the Traditional LLM at Berkeley with my profile.
--> Will they take my 'better' Master's GPA into consideration as well when I apply for the LLM?
--> Is one year work experience even enough?
I look forward to your responses.
Greetings from NL

We cannot really know what a University wants, I guess it really depends on many things! About berkeley, if your profile is interesting then I guess it does not really matters whether you have professional experience or not!
Look at the tracker list of the admitted students at Berkely, their profile are very different! My advice is try it, work a lot on your personal statement, and you might get in ! But no way to know for sure ! Just reading at your personal experience it might interest them, but then it depends on what is your professional goal stuff like that !
I have been waitlisted at Berkely, I have no professional experience, I guess I have quit good grades but not that extraordinary and only work in an asylum seekers association! So I would say your profile is interesting but you can never know ! Just try it and work on your personal statement ! Good luck !
