Guys,
Do you have an idea of when (in practice) Berkeley issues its admission decisions?

I am not sure, but I think that in early March.
From the top 10 Law Schools at Berkley you will find the best quality of life (among other reasons, because of the weather, San Fransico proximity, the student enviroment etc.), in fact, I have heard that is even better than Stanford, that is worldwide known because of its quality of life.
It will be hard for you to choose between CLS and Berkley!!!
(and, if I am lucky, for me too!)

Hi Jenny,
I hope we have to face this "problem"! I hope I am admitted to SLS also to make it even harder to decide!
Life quality is certainly a strong item to be considered (at least for me), specially because I am taking my wife with me and I believe "a real campus" experience helps embracing a student life again.
I hope they all send their decisions before the CLS deposit deadline (March 10), although I don't think this is going to happen...
Good luck to you!

Any news from Berkley?
My friends that are studying at Chicago and UPenn now are regreating because they didn't applied to Berkley or Standford. It seems that the weather is horrible in those areas (Chicago and Pennsylvania).
Another factor to take into account if we are lucky and have the chance to choose between different Law Schools.

Nothing yet... I guess it will be really March only... Definetively sunny weather is the best option for me, specially coming from Brazil, where the hardest winter equals Northern USA harder summers... :)

Although I am not from Brazil, I agree with you grugani.
If we have the chance to choose, I don't want to spend 6 out of 9 months inside my appartment because of the weather. I have heard that in California students go to parks after classes, practice jogging in the street all year long etc.
I have heard also that in North Carolina (Duke) the weather and the quality of life is better than in Northern USA , but I prefear Berkley over Duke (although Duke is exelent as well)

I agree with you Jenny1980, the weather is so important to spend a good time during studies, that is why I prefer Berkeley over Chicago. Hope that they answer soon and good luck for all of you!

Hi All:
I did my undergraduate studies at University of California San Diego and completed my juris doctorate at Boalt.
When I applied to law schools, I was fortunate to be accepted to most of the top 10. Berkeley had always been my top choice for a number of reasons.
The culture at Boalt is what makes it such an incredible place. Everyone there is talented and smart, but they also have very unique backgrounds and come from all walks of life. The intellectual vibrance and diversity of perspectives makes studying in Berkeley a wonderful experience.
Boalt is a very laid back place as opposed to many law schools which can be overly competitive and formal. It is an easy place to make friends and have an active social life beyond the classroom. Additionally, if you are enrolled in the law school and you have interests in other fields, you can enroll in courses at other departments as a law student. I took several courses at the MBA school, as well as courses at the School of Information and School of Engineering.
The weather in the Bay Area is wonderful. Last week it was 75 degrees in the middle of winter with not a cloud in the sky. You definitely get spoiled living here.
We have wonderful restaurants in Berkeley and good hiking and outdoor activities. Napa Valley is literally a 40 min drive to some of the best wine country in the world. And San Francisco is a 15 min BART ride across the bay. I have lived all over the world in many cities. I can honestly say that the quality of living in the Bay Area is good on every level.
At the end of the day you should choose the school that you feel will be the best fit.
Good luck!

Thanks for your post thinkwise!
I have heard only positive info about Berkeley as well! My frinds have told me that, among the top Law Schools, Berkeley is the one in which you will find the most interesting people, because most of the students are talented, relaxed, but extremely smart.
I have been admitted at Chicago so far, but, if Berkeley accepted me, I will go there!

If I pass, I am willing to choose Berkeley, however, I dont see Boalt as one of the top for Corporate Law.
In addition, I have some friends who are trying to convince me that CLS, NYU, Virginia and Chicago are more interesting for my objective.
What do you think? Does Berkeley a good choice for corporate lawyer?

This is my ranking according to your options:
1) COLUMBIA
2) BERKELEY
3) CHICAGO
4) VIRGINIA
So, besides YALE (Macey, Romano, Schwartz, Hansmann etc.) and maybe Stanford, Columbia has the best corporate law faculty (Coffee, Gilson, Scott etc.). In terms of program, if you would like to go deepen, maybe Stanford is better.

I believe the right thing to think about when deciding which school to attend is: which one will make you feel better during your studies?
In my opinion, all of the aforementioned universities are great, really top schools, and each of them have strengths and weaknesses.
So, choosing a law school is a very personal decision and you have to take many things into account.

They have received a record number of applications this year (almost 8,000). I suppose this number includes J.D.s also. So I guess we'll not hear back from them before March...

Even considering that Berkley is one of the top american schools that is a lot. If you would like to compare, NYU has received about 2000.
May I ask where you've heard/read that information?
