attitude toward reapplicants

Will reapply to a couple of schools that rejected me this year. Wondering how would those top ten schools see reapplicants -- will they just put them on waitlist directly in practice? Some schools may have attitude toward reapplicant... Thank you.

this is just a guess but i think most school destroy applicant files after each application cycle. Thus in the next application cycle, you will be treated as though you have never applied before and been judged accordingly.

Thank you, interalia. But I understand that, among top 10, NYU requires a new full set for the purpose of reapplication - nevertheless you may not avoid disclosing "reapplication" status in the application form. Other schools, such as HLS, CLS, retain files for a year at least, but might have biased attitude.

i don't know about biased attitude or not, many reapplicants may get that impression after getting rejected a second time, but the simplest reason is often that if they didn't like what they saw the first time, they are unlikely to change their mind the second.

that should be the understanding of every re-applicant, who should then work towards making his application significantly more attractive, which is difficult but likely possible for some e.g. if your unreleased grades are much better, or you've got published, etc.
