any ideas for scholarships to Columbia/

hgebresi

Hi! My name is Helen (an Ethiopian) and am 24 years years old. I have applied and got admission at Columbia Law School's LL.M. program in Human Rights. I have also applied for the Law School's Human Rights Fellowship but could not win. Does anybody have any idea where I could find other sources of funding, especially someone who attended their LL.M. program?

Ciao
Helen

Merry Christmas to everybody!

Really? a 24 y/o Ethiopian who just got an acceptance in CLS in Dec? Sounds like the douch-bag, Tokyo boy from last year. The style is the same and the responses are similiar. With a Chao salutation?
Really? No answers to the questions on the chat. Even after they started the chat?
Rude crude and dismissable is what it looks like.
There will be more "douch-bags (Mali), Tokyo Boy,Hgebersi's to come as we all fret over our applications.
Most of the real people here will obtain acceptances over the next three or four months.
Good luck to all of you.

Congratulations! n good luck with your scholarships, i quite agree that the US embassy may provide info. additionally, ur govt. may ve certain schemes for funding studies abroad. That avenue may be worth strolling.

anyways, if u come across some international forum do share that. on a lighter note, i haven't yet received my acknowledgement.

hey, i should have made it more clearer! My admission was for teh academic year 2005-2006. As I couldnot win the Human Rights Fellowship I've applied for, so I have asked for deferral, which I was granted, so as long as i can cover my expenses, i ca be enrolled in the 2006-2007 class.

They notified me the admission status first thru e-mail -by mid-april, 2005, then by a letter reached after some fifteen days.

Sorry for teh delay in replying, i was in a very remote rural Ethiopia 9field work) , where u don't have access to light and water, let alone the internet.

Helen:
Let me be the first to thank you for your clarification of your previous requests to the chat.
Congratulations for your acceptance to last years class and I hope that you will find the resources that you need to pursue your LLM in Human Rights at CLS.
All of us on the chat, I'm sure know now why you were unable to respond timely to your request.
We are all lawyers and are by nature skeptical. That is one of the critical requisites and a good characteristic of our professional retinue.
So it was normal and diligent that we wanted more information in order for us to understand what would not have been consistent with our previous understanding of the timing of acceptances given from CLS.
I for one, at the real thought of an Ethiopian Human Rights Lawyer with a CLS education is genuinely enthusiastic and extremely hopeful that your request for resources is resolved post haste.
Best of Everything,
LenaZ
