Dear Rakesh
At the outset, thankx for responding. I would appreciate if I am addressed as Ms. Lawyer.X.
I am a final year student of LL.B and wish to apply for LL.M 2006 after gaining work ex for a year.Although I am convince that an LL.M will add perfect value to me what bothers me is the risk involved in the venture.I see myself in an international law firm and choose to pursue LL.M to make make my way into it.However, funding appears to be the first hurdle ( I am told schol applications r looked at from a different perspective and non- schol applications have brighter prospects of making it finally to the law school).
Also, whether US or UK sice Uk is relatively inexpensive notwithstanding the work permit issues.
Your suggestions will be very valuable to me.
cheers

Dear Ms. Lawyer X,
At the outset ...Cheers!. Hiiiiiiiii!
I am not advising you , am just expressing my opinion
L.L.M in the U.K may be cheap ... but is not worth it. especially with your aim of working in an international law firm.
Dont worry about finance.. soft loans are available ...
Try to get into a good school in the U.S... Rest will follow.
which school r u in .?

Dear Lawyer,
I think its completely untrue about applications with no financial aid demands standing a brighter chance than those with financial aid requirements. I say this from personal experience as I have received an offer of admission from two good schools (Harvard and Michigan) despite asking for nearly full financial assistance.

Dear all,
It is so encouraging to find fellow indians here! I have done my LL.B from India (Delhi University) and have been in the US from the last 5 years, I have a Green Card here. I want to apply for LL. M to some of the good universities in the east coast since I live in NYC.
Can you guys tell me what are the main criterion for getting admitted for LL.M? My grades in LL.B were average , I also have done Company Secretary from India and have relevant experience in India, although in the us I have been working in the software industry. Maybe I would want to specialize in Internet related laws since I have experience in that field?
Any advice from you guys would be invaluable and much appreciated.
Thanks a lot!
RItu.

You can visit the website LSAT.COM , which gives u an acess to Law schools in the US. You can then systematically slect the Universities u want. Shortlist about 5-6 Universities, request for the application material ,fill in the forms get recommendation letters from ur professors. Good grades, work experience and Recommmendation letters are vital.
I am currently working as Manger-Legal in a Multi National In India shall be shorltly pursuing my LL.M from Southern Methodist University Texas. The whole procedure takes an average of 1 year. TOEFL is required by some universities.

Dear LLM2005,
I was just curious to know what was the criteria being applied to get accepted to the Cornell Law school. I had topped my LL.B 1996 Batch from Karnatak University and also had work experience in a top Multi National Company in India, but still not selected. It was a real diappointment.
I ultimately secured admissions to SMU and planning to do my LL.M there. Have you secured any scholarship for your LL.M at Cornell ?.

Dear All,
is anyone planning to apply to the UK for 2006 specifically Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, et.al. If so would you know the manner in which grades are translated to meet the qualificatory requirements for these universities. also would you be aware of which of these universities require an essay to be written along with your statement of purpose. do help me out if anyone has any inputs on these. good luck!!
