Admission as a Federal Judge

Gds133

Hello, Im a Brazilian federal judge for 3 years, and have published 3 academic articles so far. I’m currently thinking about applying to the Harvard LLM but I;m scared about my GPA not being high enough, I think it is 3.4 by american standards. I would like to know if do you have any idea about my admission chances? I did some pro bono when I was a lawyer, am a member of the Free Software Foundation, and have working experience as a judge, deciding important antitrust cases that could lead to a stronger industry, therefore promoting economic growth for my country. I’m sorry if it sounded overly arrogant, it was not my intention. I just want to know, basically, if my ohter credentials can compesate my not so special grades, and what my chances are, particularly if my lack of taste for law school in my early days is a definite a barrier for applying to top schools like this. Thank you very much,

I think you have chances, because it’s a holistic process. If you did part time externships during law school, it might help explain why your grades weren’t so grade, for example. However, getting accepted to Harvard is kind of a lottery (at least from what I have seen this year). If I were you, I would apply to other schools too.

Thank you. What chances do you think I have in chicago or yale? Antitrust is my wanted field and I think these are the best schools.
