Hello to everyone.
I'd like to know your thoughts about how the massive deferral ongoing in almost every top LLM program will impact in next year applications?
Hoping that by the end of 2020, things will likely start to look more "normal", how do you think Universities will face next year applications? By massive rejections or by increasing classes size?

A lot of schools are moving their classes online, at least for the fall. Anecdotally, many schools are granting more deferrals than ever before, which means that they have to go further down the list for students who are willing to take the risk. This, combined with the fact that some schools are also easing admissions requirements, says to me that many cohorts will probably be relatively 'weaker' this year than in previous years.
It's hard to say when things will return to 'normal.'

Yesterday in a Berkeley talk they said that, because of deferrals, next year applications will be more competitive as there will be fewer places. So, to answer your question, it seems it will be massive rejections or maybe a mix of both.

I hope that law schools address the massive deferrals by increasing the class size of 2021-2022 in order to accommodate prospect applicants...

I think Berkeley is the only school that has announced a free for all deferral policy (https://www.law.berkeley.edu/academics/llm/traditional-llm/fall-2020-21-options-faqs/#deferral)
You might want to reconsider applying there, but as far as I know there is still some boundaries on allowing deferrals at other schools (according to their policies, that is). Does anyone have any other clear indication that there will be mass deferrals at other schools?
