I just got a conditional offer from Durham. But I need to re-take an IELTS exam since my offer issued that I have to attend an English pre-sessional course for 12 weeks !!! (I got IELTS 6 but 5.5 in writing) . Personally,it's really expensive and too long . Actually, my friend is now Durham's student told me that last year she got an IELTS band scores likes me and she attended only 8 weeks for English pre-sessional course.

Hey Guys,
Got a conditional offer too and have chosen and been accepted into Hatfield :) Really looking forward to it! Clairesh, are you thinking of staying in Palatine house?
Also got an offer from Edinburgh and a bit confused on which one to accept... any ideas?? I love both campuses (although Ed. is a more beautiful and diverse city...) but then Durham has the collegiate system and is arguably preferred by UK employers... So torn between the two!!

Hi, llegrand
It's really a no easy choice... Personally I prefer big cities if the cost is affordable. I also got an offer from UCL, but have to go to Durham considering the tuition and high living expenses in London... Anyway, Durham is also attractive to me.
I am still hesitating whether to live on campus or not. It is said the rent is much cheaper to live outside. And I guess I will probably find a room outside. Will you staying in Palatine?

Hey Clairesh,
I'm not sure yet, I talked everything over with my parents last night and I think I'm going to Durham after all since the modules there are more directed towards the commercial side of European law than Edinburgh's more academic approach.
I visited Palatine house before coming home for Easter- I'm at uni in Newcastle so I thought It was probably wise to just pop over and have a tour. I'm not sure if you've been to visit? The college itself is great and gorgeous.. Palatine house isn't the prettiest thing around (not terribly ugly either..) but its just a one story house with several corridors.. I spoke to some students who were there and they seem to love it. The rooms aren't that big either (there are some big ones in the corners of each corridor but I think undergraduate Hatfield students continuing their postgraduate studies at Durham get first choice on them)
I would rather stay in a nice flat too with en-suite and everything else, but I'm very tempted to stay in Palatine because its just a year and I think we'll probably meet more people if we're living in. So, I think I'll probably end up staying there... not 100% sure though.
Good luck finding a nice place though :) xxx

Hi llegrand
Great you have finally decided to go to Durham! Looking forward to seeing you this Autumn.
No, I have never visited Durham, but I have watched some video clips and photos from college website. Palatine is not that impressive compared with other school buildings... but my main concern is still the living cost (guess will have to work until late Sep for that...) I figure it is still the best for one -year to live on campus if money is not a problem. After all, Durham is a collegiate university, and I don't think to live outside is the best way to enjoy it.

Another question please. Does anybody know if Do I have chances to be accepted having 2.2 instead 2.1. Is it possible to balance with my erasmus program at Sheffield for 6 months, summer courses at LSE,KCL,SOAS, internship for 4 months in Delhi, and one month itnernship in Singapore? Thanks a lot. Durham it has been always my top preference however I think is gonna be difficult to get admission bc of my grades...Let me know your sicnere thoughts. Thanks a lot.

Hey!
I have just received an email from Durham that my offer has been dispatced and same will be arrived next week. I am expecting it a conditional offer as i scored 6.0 Band in Ielts Test with 5.5 in writing. Now i am worried whether they would suggest me for 8 weeks or 12 weeks Program? I am interested in Pre-sessional for improving Language Skills but Not Too Long as it will take me out of Budget. Any Idea how to convince the Administration ?

Count me in at 50% ! I have not yet received the formal offer, but the email saying my application would be recommended.
I have applied for the European Trade and Commercial law LLM & Hatfield College. I am quite looking forward to experiment the collegiate system, but I am wondering if it's in the same league as UCL or QMUL. Durham is quite highly regarded for their undergraduate program, but what about their LLM, and especially its career prospects?
