Post lots of bouncing between the choices of Manchester or Nottingham, and after much helpful input that I've received, both here at LLMguide as well from seniors and peers, I've decided Nottingham's the way to go for me. Manchester had me convinced but hey, whatcha gonna do...
International Commercial Law's the course I'm gonna be taking.
I'm from Chennai, India. Looking forward to meeting you guys.

The University should have sent you a link to accomodation services by now if not you can check it out on the site. They have virtual tours of different kinds of rooms, and a map that tells you about various buildings proximity to your campus, depending on whether its in University Park or Jubilee Campus.
Or else you can go to the unipol site to look for private accomodation,I have settled on broadgate.where haseverybody else finalised?

Pleased to meet you all :)
Thanks to administration's delays at the university where i just finished my ug, the final paperwork only just went through a few days ago and my offer was only made unconditional yesterday.
Could any of you tell me what steps I should be taking now that thats been dealt with?

hey optimus...firstly, congratulations of your unconditional, i am yet to receive my final semester results.
The next obvious step would be to put your visa papers together, arrange for bank acocunt balance etc.
apart from that If you have not finalised accomodation yet, you should do that as soon as possible, as the popular and closest acc gets taken very quickly.details are in my above post. Signing up for welcome week, if you're planning to come early and get inducted, could be another task on your agenda if you are interested.
good luck and do check your inbox, there are many of us on facebook now, so join in :)

Heya!
Congratulations on your unconditional letter from Nottingham University. I am a second year undergraduate there and I must say it is a brilliant place to study. The Human Rights dept. is one of the best for LLM courses or so I've heard. Manchester or Bristol are a close comparison. My opinion, biased as it may seem it to come to Nottingham. It's student friendly and a vast number of intl. students reside here. We have loads of oppurtunities at university. The PGSA (Postgraduate Student Body) would be in a better position to perhaps guide you through the entire process and could answer to some of your specific queries. I had some friends doing an LLM from Nottingham last year...and well...apart from the dissertation which they worked really hard for, they had a brilliant time at uni.

@ Kanika
I'd recommend an on campus hall for PG students although they are overpriced and smell 'ancient'..lol
Another alternative is Broadgate Park but you do need to hurry for BG Park.

hey akansha.
I'm joining Nottingham University for an LLM in september.I have first class (between 60-70%) marks, and i got through UCL, Nottingham and some other universities. If you have a first class, along with reasonable letters of reccomendation and a statement of purpose, you will be admitted to nottingham without a problem.
Most british universities admit you solely based on your marks in your graduation, and the highest ranked colleges (oxford, cambridge, LSE) require a 70% and UCL and some others, above 65%.Also, a first class by UK standards is 70% and above, unlike India.
So if you are targetting these universities, you should work on your score and since you are still in your third year, that's still possible :)
anyway good luck, hope this helps!

im from dehli as well. Was planning to confirm my accomodation in either riverside or broadgate. Sent my marksheet and passprt copies ad waiting for my visa letter. Also , make sure you enroll for the welcome program. We should make a facebook group for the prospective llm students and get in touch .
