Hello,
I'm thinking of doing the LLM in International Law in Edinburgh starting this Sept. Going to accept it this week I think. What are you doing yours in?

HI Dignity, Oui Oui,
I received my offer from Edinburgh and accepted for September. I will be attending @ distance part-time for the most part as I am working full time. I will definitely visit and attend the campus at least a few times during the 3 year program to experience the city and meet with the staff.
My first experience with UofE has been simply excellent. The administration process has been very positive. They are organized, prompt, clear, helpful, just great.
Have you guys decided already? I assume you will be on campus.
Take care

For those of you who have accepted your LLM place at Edi be on the lookout for emails just before you commence the programme as there will be a drinks reception in the early days so that you can meet your classmates across all subjects. There is also a facebook group for the LLM group.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Thanks

I also got admission from Edi to Commercial law. I was thinking to accept the offer. But, recently, I have heard that most of their programmes are based on Scotish law. Is it true?
Posted Apr 25, 2010 00:23
it is not quite true. That depends on the course which you choose. For instance, Banking and Finance is focused mainly on English law. Contract law in Europe is focused on English, Scottish, German and French law in equal measure...i have not heard about a course at this llm which would be focused on scots law. Maybe i am missing something.
Best of Luck!

In the intellectual property space, looking at the course modules it looks very diverse Nargizka.
Seems fairly international in scope, but focus on UK, EU, USA, Australia. As part of your module essays or dissertation, it will give you opportunity to to comparative studies with your own country or other countries of interest.
Have a great weekend

I have just accepted their offer. I will do LLM without specifications (in Laws)... what do you say?
Posted Apr 27, 2010 05:52
Excellent DanikK - congratulations.
The standard track is great - lots of variety. I chose IP because it is closely linked to my work, my interest area and available by distance.
Best of luck

Hey!
Congratulations to all of you who got an offer!
I'll join the LL.M. in Legal Research in September. Do anybody plan to be already in Edinburgh in August?
I think that I'll be there because I'm going to search for flats that don't belong to the university. I'm quite desperate regarding the university accomodation...

For all of you joining the LLM programme and looking for non-uni accommodation if you are arriving a bit early it is always good to visit the school notice boards in the basement as there are usually several non-uni flats advertised and usually good rates. Also, edlets.com is always useful I find because instead of using a traditional property management firm it is owners advertising directly through the site, thus no extra 'management' fees.
If you want near the school but relatively inexpensive, try the Bruntsfield/Newington area. Just a quick walk across the Meadows and lovely at that!
