Which University???

Skouliki

Hello all.I am interested in attending an LLM in UK during the academic year 2008-2009.I'm particularly interested in the following faculties of law:Banking,Bankruptcy,Commercial,Competition,Corporate,Insurance and Tax law.Which University combines most of them? And which one would be the best?
I would like to do a good research on LLMs before I apply, because I wouldn't like to waste money and time on a wrong choice.

I think that the best topic from your list is Tax law....I encorauge you to consider to study it no in UK but in the University of Leiden (Holland) where there is a specific course and where the prospects after are very good!

Queen Mary and London School of Economics should both be good, though the first has some very experienced staff. In any event LL.M in both the colleges is an intercollegiate programme

to correct u zebs the intercollegiate programme finished last year, and lse seperated two years ago... as for banking and finance i would think that UCL is the best choice as it has a specialised llm for these subjects... queen mary and bristol should be good choices for commercial law in particular... manchester is good for business law especially with a european flavour... soas is good for human rights law and international law with an islamic law angle... kings is particularly good international trade law... as for lse well it has an outstanding reputation within and outside uk... however traditionally it has been known for intl and human rights law... for tax u shud check out US universities in particular NYU... boston is also a good choice banking and finance.... however as mentioned earlier i would seriously consider leiden. One thing u shud be vary of and that is to choose an llm which has excellent job prospects... it is extremely hard for u to get a job in london... although the prospects r good if u plan to return to ur country... make an investment not based on rankings but by word of mouth... for e.g in london u shud be targetting ucl and lse primarily... as this is the trend nowadays...

I agree with Ozman. If you plan to find a job in London, you should definitely apply to LSE or UCL.
