When to apply

Meera

I am a law student from India. I have just completed my last semester of law and i am awaiting my results. I want to apply for LLM in uni's like QMUL , Kings , UCL, Cardiff... anything in london or close by..
Can I make an application without the last sem result and tell them that they can give me a conditional offer. When should i start applying. I am interested in an LLM in medicinal laws or IPR.. Please do help.. Does the on-line application process work well? That is always my biggest doubt!!
Can u get admission on the basis of some other degree as well!
Pls help me out

Hello Meera, if your are interested in Applying for LLM and especially in London, try appying in all UOL colleges: LSE, UCL, SOAS, KCL, QMUL. Personally, i got admission in Warwick, cardiff, Manchester, SOAS, QMUL but i chose SOAS from all. But ive deferred by unconditional offer in SOAS for 2010-2011.

The best way to apply is online. But u can apply on paper application as well. and Yes you can apply even if your Final Semester result are not declared. Indeed Online Application are a bit faster mode, but still paper application also does the right job.

Meera, Statement of purpose carry's a lot of weight in decision making by any university. So you have to be very very careful while writing your pesonal statement. I mean, grades are important, but statement of purpose is equally important. Plus very good recommendations letters counts a lot...if you are interested in Applying for well reputed law schools. Extra curricular activities are important, but frankly i am not sure whether they could be of any help for your LLM Admission. As a matter of fact, you should focus on following things:
1. Statement of Purpose
2. Good Recom' Letters
3. Yours grades in Law Degree
4. work experience (optional)
5. Ielts/toefl score (if applies to you)
You must bear in mind that if your grades are not that good, you can still get admission in top law schools, provided your personal statement is outstanding and you support your application with excellent Recom' Letters. I cant give you pointers on Personal Statement here on this forum, but if you wish so, i can email you some (real) samples of personal statements. But just dont forget to mention the Modules you would like to take in your personal statement...Modules which you are interested in studying.

Hey Froze'n! Guess by now you would have enrolled at SOAS. I was hoping to apply for an LLM program there and was curious about the community life and extra-curricular activities at SOAS. Could you please give me an idea. Thanks in advance!
