Hey Mark,
I started my application last month and have been offered (conditionally) this week. Given the fact that I also applied to other schools around the same time, dang, they are fast! I love the fact that my future school faculty members are doing their job professionally. C:
Cheers,

Hi Guys,

Good luck to everyone by the way.

That's good. I'm still waiting for one of my referees to submit a reference, so I won't hear anything for a while I guess.

I've applied this week to UCL and my referees already submitted their references.
I am so worried, though, because I now realize that I've uploaded an excessively long personal statement, of around 1,300 words (and it looks so long because they ask you to type using font size 12!).
The thing is that my university's grading scheme is a total nightmare that doesn't correspond to anything in the world, and they don't put your partial grade average on the transcript, so I had to use the personal statement to try to explain that.
Do you think it will hurt too much my chances of getting in, even if I have good grades, good references, publications and a lot of extracurricular activities? I did address all the questions they ask you to answer on the statement,

Hey Grotian
Am sure since you needed to explain about the grading system of your university, they will not be put off by a long statement.
The reason long personal statements are frowned upon is to stop people from being too verbose, not to stop them from explaining things essential to their application.
I also have a query with respect to UCL. To my knowledge they do not need a rank certificate (or alternatively a statement saying that the university does not rank its graduates), like some american schools do. So I have not attached any such statement.
Please let me know if this is not the case.

Not me, but then my application is still waiting for my second referee to submit. Really annoying, submitted the app almost the day the course opened and two months later still waiting for a reference.
That's lower tier universities for you :(

Out of interest, those who've had conditional offers - what were the conditions?
Posted Oct 29, 2013 15:23
I have just logged in to check my application status and it says "conditional offer"! The decision was posted yesterday, but I have not yet received an email. Is that normal?
The condition is that I graduate with a grade average of 7 out of 10.

Good luck to you all. I've started the LLM at UCL this year and it's been a very good experience. This forum was very useful to me about the time I was applying to the universities. Cheers,

Hello!
Out of interest, what was the offer UCL gave you? Also, how are you finding living costs etc. :)

Status has changed to 'Currently being processed by Admissions', does this mean the Dept of Laws has made a recommendation? Or is it just exactly as it states, that they're having a good old look at it? :S

I think maybe you're on step one. Does it also say 'Your Application is Complete' and something about waiting six weeks or something?
Mine was complete around 2.5 weeks ago :)
