Congrats Judy Law!
I was wondering though, when did UCL receive your application, or at least, when did you submit your application?

Hey there! I am new here, but have the same problem - need to wait too long. I submitted my application to UCL (as well as to some other unis) somewhere in the beginning of November, and they received my second reference letter on November 6. A week ago Ms Jane Ha emailed me that they need some additional documents, and I sent them this Monday. This morning I have been noticed that everything is OK, and my application is going to be passed on to the Graduate Tutor for consideration.
Well, I have to mention that I have also applied for the Chevening scholarship, and this double-waiting is killing me)) I guess I will get some information about Chevening in February, and the final decision will be taken in early March. So I just try to have as many stuff to do as possible to keep patient)))

Hi guys,
I have also received an e-mail from UCL recommending an offer. I am awaiting a letter in the post officially confirming this, as apparently, the e-mail does not constitute an offer. I was very surprised and happy to receive a reply so soon, especially as I only applied 2 weeks ago!
However, I noticed that the application number quoted on the e-mail is different from the application number on previous correspondence. So this has left me worried that they may have me confused with somebody else. Judy Law, can you confirm whether the application number on your e-mail when you received the offer was the same or different to the one you were given when you applied? Thanks in advance.

I received a similar e-mail as well. My nummber is correct. Ring or e-mail them and ask for clarification.

...my email does not mention my application number at all! haha how peculiar! not that i'm complaining (or particularly care to be very honest!)...

good lord no. I've been living in the UK for far too long for that kind of thing...
perhaps I should try channeling my Australian friends... :)

I have just received an email from Graduate Officer notifying that I was recommended to the Admission Office for an offer... Well, fingers crossed!
Posted Dec 03, 2009 16:11
I also just recieved an e-mail from a Graduate Tutor saying that I have been recommended for an offer and that I will be sent an official offer letter subject to checks by the Admissions Office. What does this recommendation of an offer mean though?

congratulations!
I emailed the other day and was told that my application was under consideration by the graduate tutor. I hope the delay isn't a sign that I'm in the maybe pile..... this waiting is driving me insane!

I think the "recommendation" thing is a reflection of the fact that the law faculty doesn't have the authority to make formal offers. In practice I suspect it's decision is the clincher though, and that any additional checking by the graduate admissions team is a formality / designed to ensure that papers are in order, etc.

oh ok! Yay! thanks for the advice and good luck with your application! :)

its, not it's. What is wrong with me today?

I've just had my official offer letter come through today. Very happy.
I also have offers from Durham, Nottingham and Warwick. I'm just wondering though, is UCL clearly better than the above 3 and worth the extra expense in tuition fees and living cost, because someone told me that there is hardly any difference between UCL and Durham. Can anyone offer any advice?

Hey so those of you who already received an e-mail saying you got recommended for an offer, when did you apply / get the acknowledgement letter, and what did the latter say about the time the decision is going to be made by?

I applied on November 6, and received the email a couple of hours ago. According to it, "a formal offer letter will be sent to you in due course, subject to final checks by the Admission Office..."

UCL received my application on the 11th of November. I haven't yet received my acknowledgement letter. When I called they said it was sent on the 18th of November. I assume it will take a while to arrive since I'm from the Caribbean. My letter from the graduate tutor which i received via e-mail says the same as Tatiana's basically...
