Timing of UCL decisions

Ryker

Hey, I am in Hong Kong and I have received the acknolwedgement letter as the letter informing me that my applciation was forwarding to the selectors on 18th November notwithstanding tha tthe date of the letter was 5th November. It said that I would get further notification by 19th December. I believe that due to the Christmas and New Year's Eve, probably, I have to wait till the early 2010!

I got a letter from UCL a couple of days ago, as well, stating that a decision (at least a preliminary one) should be made by December 9th, 2009. Though it seems it does take long for mail to reach countries other than UK, as it took nearly 3 weeks to get here. So all of you who haven't gotten a response yet, I bet it was already sent but it just hasn't arrived yet.

Hi guys, brief update.

UCL wrote me again saying that my acknowledgement letter was sent on 30 Oct and I should receive a decision mid Dec.

Unfortunately, I have not received the acknowledgement letter and therefore I do not know if and when I will receive the decision!

Legalalien, our decision should be taken in the same period. Let me know we you get it as you are in London and it seems that your letters are delivered pretty earlier than mine. :(

I sent an email to the faculty of law on Wednesday and asked a friend who is based in London to ring them. They told my friend that they sent my a confirming letter on 28 th October and decisions are usually sent out in the beginning of dec.

However this morning I got an email reply from the faculty of law. The woman said that my application was processed, a decision has been made and the admissions office will send me a letter shortly. It really scared me, I am wondering if a earlier decision is a bad sign...

Last week I got an offer from Nottingham but I didnt expect UCL would made decisions before December...

So I am thinking about talking to the admissions office and see if they can tell me the decision by email or send the letter by DHL, since I not even got the confirming letter. Do you guys think it ll be possible?

fausto - will certainly post if and when I get a decision! Really hope that it's soon - my inability to even get my LSE application to the under consideration phase is driving me mental, so I need cheering up (or not, as the case may be - at least something concrete).

judylaw - I assume that they can't tell you over the phone? presumably they'll update the online status once they post the letter out, even if they don't alert you to the fact it has been updated?

Well, the confirming letter just arrived at my home.

I agree with you legalalien, they probably wont tell me the decision by phone. I was jus wondering if there is another way to get the decision letter rathern than by normal post. But I just saw in the FAQ that they cant send it by email but can fax it. I ll try...

hey guys,

pursuant to my email, i was informed by ucl that my acknowledgement letter was dispatched on the 22nd of october (which i did not receive until last week, when i left the uk), and that a decision has been made regarding my application (scary shit!).

...considering that i am abroad, and will remain so for the next couple of months, i'm quite keen to learn my fate asap rather than wait until i return home. i've been referred to a mr thomas harrington (t.harrington@ucl.ac.uk) of admissions to find out if there is any means by which i can learn of their decision other than by post!

good luck everyone and god speed!

Thanks! As I used the paper form, I didnt have an online tracking, at least as far as I know. I knew a decision had been made by the email I said before.

Thanks everybody I am working now and struggling to get focus on my work again hahaha

As I said before, on 18/11 I sent an email to the adress given by fausto llm-law.... asking if my application was received (at this time I didnt get the confirmation letter). On 20/11 I got an email from a kind lady called Laura Parrett who said my application was processed and a decision has been made. So i asked if she could email me the decision letter and she told me that all the letters are sent by the admissions office so I should talked to them. She also gave me the Mrs. Thomas´ adress from the admissions office, but he havent replied my email email so far...
Over the weekend I saw on UCL website that they cant email you the decision letter but they can fax you if you request. So this morning I called the admissions office and asked them to fax me the letter, and teh guy just said OK and faxed me in one hour.

ps: sorry abou any mistake but I am in a rush

Hi guys,

I sent an e-mail this afternoon asking for update. They timely replied me a while ago.

My application is still under consideration and a decision should be issued within the end of the week.

They asked me to contact them then so they will be able to give me the outcomes.

I have to wait for the end of the week so... (not only for the due rest).

Keep patient!

Have a nice evening celebrating!

Fausto,

the letter says: "You are asked to respond within 4 weeks of the receipt of this letter".

But I guess this dealine just starts when you get the original letter because you have to complete and return a form enclosed to the letter. It is something I need to ask them.

Fausto, who should you contact to get the answer on their decision? They said they'll make a decision by December 9th in the acknowledgement letter, and since my offer at Edinburgh is pending, I'd rather know when that date comes around than to wait another 3 weeks for their mail to reach me.

i sent an e-mail at this address llm-law@ucl.ac.uk and they reply me in a timely fashion.

Report you application number if you have it. I think this speeds up a reply.
