I would like to ask all of you for your opinions. Where is the best place for energy law ? Dundee, Aberdeen or whateles?
I got a scholarship from my home country Thailand to pursue LL.M in the field of Energy Law, but I have no idea about it. Actually, i got offer from Aberdeen (LL.M in oil and gas law) and waiting for Dundee. However, I don't know how to choose. And what are the differences between these school? (Pro and Con)
Please share your info with me. Thanks in advance for your help.

The choice is yours, there are a number of schools now offering specializations in Energy. I am about to graduate from Dundee with a specialization in Petroleum Tax and Finance. The school's strength in the areas of energy, petroleum, mineral law and investment dispute resolution is, I believe, second to none. Professors in these areas reknown as world leaders come to teach in Dundee. In terms of the susbtance, your interests will be well served there.
The flip side is that you may have to do all the looking for jobs on your own. Having said that Im not sure any if the other schools in this area are any more helpful.
You can read more about Dundee in the words of the Prestigious Times newspaper in the following link:

All the best

D1! Thank you for your reply.
It is very helpful info and will help me to make up my mind. I have just got an offer from Dundee too, LL.M. in Energy Law and Policy. I havn't be worried about career so much because I got a scholarship to earn the degree, so I have to resume and work as lecturer in law after I graduated. But a big concern for me is I have no experience about energy industry at all, so I don't know it will become a problem for studying and earning such degree? Anyway, I'm glad to get a reply from the one who are now stuyding at Dundee like you. Thank you so much!

I have an offer on the Energy Law and Policy LL.M. for next September. I'm excited, but I am worried about the job prospects after the LL.M.
Are people able to find jobs who do not have guarenteed positions in their home countries? Are there networking opportunities in the Centre?

I think that both aberdeen and dundee are great for energy law.
Nevertheless, Aberdeen is much more focused on the Oil and gas field.
Dundee LLM has a scope much more far such as mining, water, electricity...
So I think that someone who wants to specialize in oil and gas has the choice between both.
Yet, for international students it is important no to neglect the rankings. Because when they will be back home, law firms will look at rankings and Aberdeen is much more famous than dundee on an international point of view.
Last but not least fees are very much cheaper. 10 000 pounds for dundee-4000 for Aberdeen.
For students who like to go out, be careful with dundee ;)
