One question to those who received offers - do you focus rather on public or private law? I heard that Cambridge preferred public law profiled candidates...

Really? That's funny, I heard quite the opposite! And Oxford has more courses related to public law than Cambridge...
Anyway, as I said I have a bicephalous profile, corporate law and public law. I don't know if it really helped!

I really have no idea if it is true or not. Personally, I hope it is not:)

Public law all the way!
(But I also thought it was the other way around, and Cambridge preferred more corporate law)

As far as I know they don't really have preferences... What it's true is that in Cambridge you have a great public law faculty; whereas in Oxford there are some of the best professors in UE for private law (ie Davies, Armour, Vogenauer and so on for corporate/commercial law).
It really depends on YOUR interests... Anyway, guys... We're talking about 2 of the first three law faculties in the world...

Hello everyone, congratulations to those with offers!
I was wondering for those who are still waiting such as myself, did you get an email instead of seeing ur camsis changed? Are the offers made following nationalities? As in..offers to Australian first, then Italians etc.
Again congrats for those with offers, were most conditional?

The status of my application for the LLM program still is "under consideration by the degree committee".
This is why I asked the graduate admissions office for more information when there will be a decision with regard to this application.
The office told me to contact directly the graduate committee. Does anybody know the e-mail adress or phone number of this office?
Thanks in advance.

mra,
call the law faculty, they will help you out.
Unfortunately I got rejected :-(
too bad...but it happens. I'll be going to UCL this september instead which is still awesome.
Sincere good luck to everyone still waiting!

Hey Colin88, sorry to hear that! I'm probably in the same situation, if Cambridge and Oxford fail, I'll be going to UCL as well, which, as you said, is pretty much still awesome!!!
Just to have an idea, how did you find out about the rejection? Did they send you an email, updated your camsis status or did they tell you over the phone? At this point, I'd really rather have some kind of certainty, the wait is really awful!
Best, and we'll probably see each other in UCL!

Hey, thanks :-)
So I called the Law department and told them that I had been ridirected to them because my status still read 'bla bla degree committee' so then this lady redirected me again to another person in charge of the LLM program or something like that (probably all postgraduate applications within the dept). I gave her my number and she looked it up..it was lucky i think. But give it a try: +44 1223 330033
Good luck!
But yes, if you do end up at UCL let me know, we'll chat about that :-)

Hey Colin88, thanks alot for the advice on calling the faculty! I am sorry to hear about your rejection, and I wish you all the best at UCL.
I also gave the law faculty a call and the lady was quite helpful. she told me that my application is still being considered by the degree committee, as to the timeline for decisions, she replied that decisions may be made next week as well.
fyi: have your application number ready not the student number so as to facilitate the checking of your application status.

I'm very sorry to hear that, Colin. I do hope you find another great programme!
and thanks for the info! so your status is still 'under consideration'? mine is.. but I won't send to know for whom the bell tolls until the end of next week, I think

am I the only one that thinks that the fact that Cambridge doesnt email rejections, not even have the courtesy of taking the time to let them know, somewhat distubring?
I havent received any news, and i wont waste 10 dollars calling over there to find out what my 75 dollar application fee should have paid for: an answer.

I think eventually they would have let me know...in like a week? I dont know, obviously the emails are sent manually one by one.
I just got impatient and called...
on my camsis status I still have 'under consideration by degree committee' I'm still not clear whether that status changes once more before you get an offer or a rejection.

I'd love to take up my conditional offer this year but I've already arranged everything for my gap year, so I'm hoping I can defer.
Has anybody tried deferring yet? What reasons are they likely to accept?

Has anyone from Nigeria and/or Africa received an offer from Cambridge?
Posted Mar 11, 2012 20:17
Hello!
Could any of the offer holders please tell me what conditions have been attached to their offers?
I'm just wondering whether it is possible to get any academic condition other than to get a 1st Class or an equivalent...
I'd be very thankful for any information
