Hi, I think about going to SOAS. Where are you from and what do you indent to study? I am from germany and I have not decidet yet which field of study I will choose.
Do you know what the average age in the LLM classes will be? I am already 29 and a qualified lawyer, do you think the average age will be much younger?
Hope to hear from you,
best wishes, ina

Hi Ina!
I am 25 years old and from India. I am not sure about the average age in the LLM class.

Hi. I am sure you'll find people much older than in their 20s. Many people take years working and/or exploring the world before going back to finish their postgrad degrees. Don't be surprised to find 30 and 40 year olds in your class...who knows if you'll see some in their 50s and beyond, too. Some people study just to study, personal fulfillment and not really into these classes as a career move. Heck, there was a man in Africa who went back to school in his 90s just to learn how to read---so anything is possible ;-). Go figure!

Thanks Noura. I agree with you completely. I don't think age matters at all. BTW, where are you headed?

Hello, thanks for the posts! I also think age does not matter... I was just wondering how old the most people will be on the llm programme;
so may be c u at SOAS- I have not decided which one is the better option SOAS or Queen Mary, but I think I like SOAS better since it is near the city centre and not in East London. Additionally, I like Asia.......or is it odd for a german to go there? Can anybody please tell me if the courses are only based on asian or african rights or is also uk or european law an issue in the courses?Certainly, it depends on the course, but just to get a general idea of the school......
thanxxxxxxx

Hi guys
I went to SOAS for LLB - the school overall has an older than average age group so anyone 25+ will fit right in. It's quite small - around 3000 total students so if you want a massive place it may not be for you...but you will be a member of Uni of London Union which is housed right next door for more activities.
In terms of course content, think 'comparative'. There are courses focussed on certain regions/themes too. From my memory of friends who did LLM's there, you pick four courses so have a variety of options.
It's a cool place...very very very international so believe me you will not be the only German person! And the location is great too.
