As with everything, people outside the UK don't see past London.
Your argument was actually very narrow. You stated that it offered more choice and that you chose it largely because of one academic expert.
I know a lot of partners in major firms, each of which I actually sought advice from when choosing my own course. Kings wasn't in their top group of institutions to apply to. I did apply, and I got an offer, but I chose to go elsewhere for a number of reasons, not all based on prestige. I also turned Nottingham down but I feel I should stick up for the university because, within the UK, it has an outstanding reputation for its law school.
Reputation order of this 4 unis...

Beicon, it's funny how we answered to the same question differently.
Well, from russian perspective the american higher education prevail here, especially MBA; LLM less so. But law firms and in-house here increasingly become aware of the other top english unis, besides "the golden triangle".
Actually, I have a good friend here who went to work in Brazil, in the finance department of a top european car maker. I think, he stayed in Sao-Paulo. He liked it there, especially was impressed by batida de coco :)

Panthro,
I didn't intend to come across as arrogant, like Summerfield, I get irked when I see people regard the league tables as sole and decisive authority on these matters esp as the employers disregard them. I obtained my LLB (undergrad) from Kings.
Notts has an excellent law department not denying that but I thnk that the city firms are somewhat favourably biased towards Oxbridge (obviously) and London unis (esp Lse, Kcl and Ucl). This preference certainly doesn't detract from the quality and strength of other excellent legal faculties eg Uni of Bristol which may well offer the same quality of legal education offered in the London colleges.
