I received the CCLS tuition fee (international) scholarship for my LL.M in Computer and Communications Law this year - will be joining the classes at QMUL from mid-September hopefully. I pursued my Bar Vocational Course (presently known as BPTC) at City law School and was subsequently called to the Bar in 2009. Thereafter, I came back to my country, Bangladesh and got my enrollment with the Bar Council here. I have been working at a set of chamber for about four years - mostly specializing in telecom and IT laws which actually inspired me to pursue this LL.M.

Now, my question is: as a lawyer who is practicing in a different jurisdiction, although all my degrees are from the UK, what is my prospect of getting at least a placement in a law firm such as Bird&Bird in London having a practice in telecom and communications laws? I understand that securing a pupillage in the UK for a non-resident Barrister like me is near to impossible - that's why I never even aimed for that. Besides, I eventually want to set up my own chamber in Dhaka.

However, it would be really very beneficial for me if I could make some liaison with an international telecom law firm in London by working there for sometime and open up my own practice in Dhaka in affiliation with that firm, given the fact that the second largest growing industry in Bangladesh at present is the telecommunications sector and is expanding very fast.

Thanks!
