Hi everyone,
I have a conditional offer for KCL and need to score 7.0 at IELTS.
Since I only had 6.5 I will certainly need to take their presessional english course for 1 month.
Has someone already attended such course ?
If so, may you give some details ?
Is the course difficult ?
What was your level of english before starting it ?
Is the assesment at the end of the course difficult ?
Thanks a lot for all your answers because I am quite embarassed about all this stuff.
Regards,
Presessional english course

Dear Ben_Tise,
there is no need to be embarrassed. I had same probs of you actually. I scored a 7.0 overall, but the score in the writing section was not enough.
By the way, I'd suggest you to try and re-sit the test, since IELTS and TOEFL are very tricky test and sometimes you just need to be lucky with questions and stuff.
Do not worry, there is plenty of time to try and pass the test.
Good luck

Thanks a lot for this answer.
What are your feelings about the presessional course ? Was it difficult, did you need to work a lot ?
And what if you do not achieve grade B+ ? Do they refuse you the entry in the LLM, and as a result you cannot go to any other uni....

Hi,
I didnt attent any of the courses but have seen the material. It is not difficult at all and is very basic. For most of it they will teach you how to write well and will have essay homeworks. So after every class everyone will have to take one topic and write an essay on it in that one week. these essays are assessed by your course teacher and all or at least most of the LLM students have to give this english test to pass the required english level. Again that exam is very much like IELTS so do not worry. Its very easy. Hope this helps.
