pre-master KCL vs GIC and are there any reasons to do pre-master at all?!

Luisia

Hi all,
by the end of this month I will have got my Bachelors degree at the Law School (international Commercial Law) and I am planning to continue my further education in the UK. But I think that there is a big difference between the system of higher education of my native country and british one, besides, I want to acquire all academic skills of students that have already completed undergraduate program in the UK. thats why I decided to take pre-master program first.

i applied to Glasgow International College (GIC) and to KCL for pre-master in Law and have received a conditional offer from both. But KCL says that they cannot guarantee me a place in LLM program after pre-master year (but they will help me to apply to any other university) as GIC does.

So what shall I do?

I have always dreamed about studying in KCL but its obvious that my academic progress is not enough for this kind of university. And I think that in this case there is no point in applying next year to UCL, QMUL either. But I have heard a lot that about academic reputation of KCL and tend to think that the level of teaching in KCL is higher than anywhere. On the other hand, I like the fact that after pre-master in GIC Ill progress to LLM in Glasgow University (in this case I know for sure that having taken pre master program and not being accepted to LLM, Im not coming back home without any degree at all).

I really ask you to be so kind and to advise me something.

Also I want to ask those who gets acquainted with British education system better that I do if pre-master year gives any advantages that will be taken in account by University during entering process? Or is it just self-education and doesnt have any impact on your résumé and the results of appling?

thanx a lot for any answers

Im not that much acquainted with the Britains educational system, but my first impression tells me that a pre-masters is close to useless in terms of reputation, CV and everything else if I were you, I would apply for a masters straight away and cross off this pre-master thing. I don't see how a pre-master can give you actual knowledge that would help you out over a real master degree... the only point in favour of a pre-master is that you'll have plenty of time to improve your English skills...
