Oxford Qualifying Test

Does anyone have reliable knowledge regarding the qualifying test to transfer from a PRS to a DPhil student at Oxford?

If yes, I would very much appreciate any insight you could offer on the nature of this exam.

If not, please ignore this post. Thank-you.

Hi,

It's not a 'test' per se, but an outline of your thesis (approx. 2000 words) accompanied by a draft chapter (approx. 10,000) typically submitted in Trinity (summer) term of your first year. Following submission you are assessed orally on the thesis outline and draft chapter by a three person panel including your thesis supervisor. There are many other more precise rules relating to the qualifying test, but that's the gist of it.

Cheers,

Paddy
