I also got the Weidenfeld Scholarship email. I am sure it means you are accepted. Congrats! And let's keep our fingers crossed for the scholarship!

When I emailed: lawfac@law.ox.ac.uk I received an answer within a few hours. Unfortunately, I didn't receive an offer. The faculty also advised me that all the offers that will be made have been made (there's no wait list).
For Canadians who received an offer, could you PM me letting me know what kind of qualifications you had? I'm curious what my application was lacking (I have great grades, awards, two years of work experience at a top firm, glowing references, etc.). Since Oxford was my first choice, understandably I'm somewhat disappointed. But, I'll get over it.
Congrats to all who got in!

needtoknow, what was your class ranking in each year? How many prizes have you won?
I am also canadian, and though i didnt apply to oxford i did apply to Cambridge and was accepted. FYI, I have: top 5% percent in 1st year, top 15% in second year, and top 1% in third year. I have about 6 prizes and a first class honours BA before the LLb. I have one year work experience. Hope this helps.

NeedtoKnow, the faculty, at the very least, replied your email promptly. I've sent an email without a reply and the waiting is really killing me!
Anyway, I trust you will have back-up plans? Just remember: you are great and you will do well wherever you go! Cheers!

Equity's Darling - Wow! Those are amazing grades. Congrats on Cambridge.
My grades weren't quite as good as yours, but I was in the top 10 in my law program overall. And, I won a bunch of academic prizes (3 in total). My school didn't rank so I only know about my rank through an award those in the top 10 received.
Anyway, time to move on and re-think if I really want to do an LLM in the UK if I can't get into my first choice.
Thanks!

why not apply elsewhere, needtoknow?? You could apply to Cambridge (my understanding is that if you're in the top 10% you have the rough equivalent of a first in the Uk which means you have a good chance of getting in).
Besides, I'd wager you'd surely get into LSE with those crditials, and it is also a great school.
Also, don't give up on oxford; I know a person who was rejected but applied again the following year after some more work experience and was accepted...

Well... after all this waiting I am now in a quandry. Today I just got offered a job to act as an Associate for a Judge this year! Now I'm not sure which to do as I got into the BCL.
Does anyone know if you can defer the BCL for a year?

IPCT - I tried getting a deferral last year. However, they informed me that they have a policy of not allowing deferrals. I was also informed that I should mention it in my application this year that I was accepted last year --and that the chances of being accepted would be very high. However, they made it very clear that admission was not assured.
But from what I gathered, I think they make these decisions on the reasons for requesting a deferral. My reason was insufficient funds.

Thanks anups. Good to know.
I wonder what would constitute a sufficient reason? Anyone else know?
Do you recall who you speak with about this? I presume the law faculty or grad admissions.

Is anyone else trying to send in the AHRC forms by March 26? I only realised that that was the deadline today so i hope i can get my application to oxford by then!
it doesn't give us much time, given that applicants were only informed this week that they were accepted!

Well, I finally got my decision by post today, and I got a place! Congratulations to everyone who got accepted. See you in September!

What are the AHRC forms?
Posted Mar 23, 2007 14:54
I'm just so thrilled! Got the offer to do the BCL with no conditions set! Will take this offer and let go Cambridge!...
Guess it'll be another round of waiting for news on scholarship.... and/or just start saving!.....
See you all this September! :)

Well, I finally got my decision by both post and email, and I got a conditional offer for the MJur! But now starts the dilemma between Cambridge LLM and Oxford MJur...
