Oxford BCL/ Harvard LLM

Hi there,
Looking at applying for both of these courses in September and was wondering if people using this forum have any advice on the application process.

Specifically I would be very interested to hear any opinions on whether, as a recent Cambridge grad, I would be looked on preferably by Oxford compared to grads from other institutions? One of my tutors seemed to suggest this was the case, saying that Cambridge students are a 'known quantity' to Oxford admissions tutors. I received as 1st this year but it was by no means an impressive score.

Re Harvard, the general impression I get is that the admissions process is more of a lottery than the UK, perhaps because extra curricular activity is evaluated. Would I be at a disadvantage without any professional experience outside the usual collection of internships etc?

Thanks very much!

It is true that US law schools weigh more the extras than the UK ones. Lacking extras, you'll probably have far more chances of getting into Ox, but you never know :)

Your background is good (Cam grad), but you'll compete with other UK educated grads from top schools, so, in a nutshell, your background might ultimately hurt you as opposed to an applicant from a more "exotic" so to speak country with less applicants than UK ones to Harvard.
