Oxford BCL

I'm a graduate from Trinity College Dublin who is interested in applying for the BCL at Oxford. Basically I want to test the water and see if it's even worth my while applying, so if anyone can lend any insight I'd be very grateful.

OK, academically I'm pretty good - I got a first in my final degree, but got 2-1s in other years. Will that be held against me? I've done some "relevant" extracurricular activities - law review, mooting, etc, but I don't have any publications to my name as of yet.

Basically I'd be interested in hearing from anyone in a similar situation who's been through the process.
Thanks!

I'm going to Cambridge not Oxford so this is somewhat second hand experience but I'm from an Irish background too. The chances are if you got a first in your u/g that's all they'll really care about. They won't be too concerned about other years although that probably only holds true assuming you passed everything. Beyond that I'm not really sure what advice to give. It seems a bit hit and miss. I would say apply to more than one place cause I had a friend who that didn't work for! Also try and look like you have some sort of plan. ie I want to do subjects X,Y and Z because .... I know that sounds obvious but alot of the other applicants will be older and have a more clearly defined career path and in hindsight I didn't think through my reasoning for doing an LLM enough and I don't think "stalling tactic" is reason enough
