Hi!
I intend to apply for the Oxford MJur and have
already gathered two references. Yet, I might not get the third needed reference until November/December.
The deadline being in January 2006, I am aware that an application submitted in December is valid. However, I am afraid it could diminish the chances of admission, as many students already apply in October.
Is it a disadvantage to apply in
December only ?
Thanks for your views and advice :-)

No, it's not. The applications in Oxford are consiedered in "gathered fields", and not on a rolling basis, therefore, applications submitted in October will be just kept in files until a specified date and then considered together with those that were received later.

Thank you for your swift response, Zelda! I know about the gather field-system of Ox, but still keep wondering whether they really do apply it, just as they outline and assure on their webpage. Are you absolutely sure? Please confirm and/or check with your Ox-staff. Thanks a lot again and have good Ox-start :-)

I wouldn't say that if I were not sure :) I think this even has some statutory justification - like equality policy or something.
I applied myself in mid-November, I think - for the 1st gathered field.

Thanks Zelda. You're right, the gathering fields are part of Ox's equal treatment policy. Yet, statutory provisions are not always applied in practical use, which is why I asked you if you were positive about it. All the best to you - M
