Does Oxford respond to applications over the weekend?

For previous years, all offers were sent manually during working hours, whereas rejections were sent automatically, and could be during around 2 am through the weekend.

Now it's UK time 2:00 am. If anyone received an automatic rejection, it means that the program will not release new offers. So, does anyone receive the rejection?

Got the automated DPhil in socio-legal studies rejection at 2am. No word on the BCL still. Expected the DPhil rejection because I didn’t get the interview call. Good luck everyone. Not sure if posting this is helping but silence seemed like the worse choice.

Thank you for the information @Svay. Sad for your DPhil but good luck with your BCL. Could I ask whether your "upload" button appeared or disappeared prior to the rejection, like what was the status of the button yesterday? Thanks!

Is there any chance that some MJur offers will be sent in the coming days or all MJur offers are sent on the same day?

As an MPhil/DPhil candidate, I rechecked this forum. I found on Thursday for MPhil/DPhil candidates who received offers at that time with buttons intact, whereas some like me that still haven't received anything with buttons disappeared. Notably, one reported Dphil button disappeared and Mphil intact later received MPhil offer. I think it is a clear sign that we would receive waitlists and rejections in the following days, so this may be my last post before I received the final response. So sad and crazy spending so much time in recent days for analyzing the magic button theory, need to back to normal life.  Anyway, nice to meet you guys and good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

Did a lil research for bcl

last year, buttons of few applicants disappeared, and those few received offers, just  like the applicants who received their offers this year, up till now.

Two or three days after that, there was mass disappearance of the buttons and in that case these applicant came to be rejected. So thats the case with the vast number of applicants, us, who yesterday reported the disappearance.

Yeah, agree with this observation. Any idea when we might receive the rejection?

my upload button for DPhil was gone for a week almost. So I expected a rejection. The BCL disappeared a couple of days ago when everyone reported disappearance as well.

thanks for the wishes! Good luck to you and everyone else. I hope the decisions come out soon, whichever way. This is just miserable

Should have more offer out.in this thread only less than 20 offers report for BCL .suppose 30% of applicants are in this thread, means less than 60 offers out now. Should have more left. Wish all g

Agree! Congrats to the ones that have received offers and good luck to the others, waiting!

Could the ones accepted for the MPhil and DPhil share their background here, please? So that us, the probably rejected, know if there is something we particularly lack and thus might be an indication of why we did not make the cut (I acknowledge there are also other factors, independent of us, steeering that decision, but nonetheless… might be useful)?
Thank you!!

Does this apply to MJur offers too since 9 people received MJur offers so far, while they release more than 60 MJur offers each year?

Seems like a lot of assumptions. Whilst it is absolutely necessary to have hope, it is best to manage expectations I think. Sorry for being depressing. Best of luck to all of us BCL applicants In limbo atm.

I think we have to wait. It stands that for BCL/MJur there are ca. 140 places. I doubt all successful applicants have already been contacted. Moreover, it appears that all of them obtained “conditional” offer. I am currently a PhD student in law in my home country and I doubt that my possible offer is conditional, because I am already above the LLM level. let us wait patiently, there is still a lot ahead of us.

waiting for my MJur decision ????

Hello guys! I am new on this thread.
I applied for BCL course and haven't heard anything from the University. I read about the "Magic Button" disappearance theory this morning only, and immediately logged in to the portal. The button has disappeared (I wasn't aware of this theory before this morning, hence couldn't check the disappearance of the button in the past two days)

So, is there anyone who has still not heard from the University but at the same time their upload button option on the portal is also unavailable? Also, What does this situation imply, rejection isn't it, since offers were sent on Thursday and Friday?

Awaiting for a response. Thanks.

As far as i am aware all of the bcl and mjur buttons have disappeared. The theory at the moment is that the people whose buttons disappeared on Wednesday received an offer on Thursday. everyone else's buttons seem to have disappeared around the same time on Thursday, and those people have not heard back yet. So the theory is that if you haven't heard back yet (and are part of the Thursday button disappearance group), you'll most likely receive a rejection or waitlisting mail in the coming week.

since no new offers for bcl or mjur were sent out on Friday, some people think that there will be more offers next week (I highly doubt this though as there seems to be a pattern with the button disappearance, even if it appears to be different from the past years)

hope this helps

Let us see what will happen on Sunday at 2:00 am so that we would know what to expect next Monday, although it may not change the outcome of mass waitlists and rejections.  Actually, I am wondering did anyone already receive a waitlist for MJUR/BCL/MPHIL/DPhil?
