NYU or LSE? (overall)

Ruleoflaw

NYU or LSE? Constitutional Law, Human Rights and Alternate Dispute Resolution. Basically Public Law. I would also be interested in knowing which college to choose overall, as in with no particular reference to any course/subject.

Parameters:
1) Course
2) Professors
3) Reputation (in general, not for any particular course)
4) Cost effective (NYU is more expensive by about 25,000 USD, which I think is prohibitive!)
5) Future prospects
6) London v. NY
7) Overall experience
8) Sporting culture ( I would be very interested to know this as well!)

Anything else that comes to your mind? Anyone else facing a similar dilemma at this point in time?

I am sure most of us are waiting to hear from the other colleges, this is just food for thought.

LSE------ Constitutional Law, Human Rights and Alternate Dispute Resolution. Basically Public Law.

Parameters:
1) Course- both NYU and LSE are good, NYU is best in International law, LSE is in ADR,IPR and overall strong in Public law

2) Professors- both are equal, But consider Ph.D., LSE is good and you can save funds for further studies

3) Reputation (in general, not for any particular course)-
LSE is far better ..

4) Cost effective (NYU is more expensive by about 25,000 USD, which I think is prohibitive!)

true..

5) Future prospects

LSE and NYU, both are good in your field.. NYU , not a good choice for next few years due to economic crisis in USA.

6) London v. NY

NYU is the best.

7) Overall experience

NYU

8) Sporting culture ( I would be very interested to know this as well!)

+@25,000$ at LSE.. what else you want?

How can you even compare...

NYU all the way...

If you want to save money - LSE...

If you have it.. NYU

Parameters:
1) Course

NYU: it's much bigger in choice, but ultimately it depends on your speciality. LSE will obviously be better at some areas, and vice versa.

2) Professors

Again NYU: it's got a lot of great professors. The LSE faculty is relatively small, and while there are some great professors (or lecturers), a lot certainly aren't leading lights in their field. Once gain, your choice of speciality will be the deciding factor here.

3) Reputation (in general, not for any particular course)

Depends where you plan to practice: US = NYU, UK = LSE. The NYU is known to be more rigorous than the UoL (London colleges) LLM. While the LLM LSE is internationally well-known for economics and sociology, it's not really known internationally for its law school, but rather the general international brand name gives LSE the edge for many international students, while domestic (UK) students seem to favour the other UoL colleges.

4) Cost effective (NYU is more expensive by about 25,000 USD, which I think is prohibitive!)

Go to the one you can afford.

5) Future prospects

I know that NYU have recruiters looking specifically for LLM grads in certain specialisations, and hold in-house interviews. I'm unaware of this with LSE. In the City of London, an LLM from LSE will not give you any more of an advantage than holding an LLM from UCL, KCL, or QMUL.

6) London v. NY

They are so different it's hard to compare.

7) Overall experience

I went to London, so cannot comment on NYU directly here. From friends/colleagues feedback, again NYU seemed to be better with respect to opportunities.

8) Sporting culture ( I would be very interested to know this as well!)

Virtually all US universities beat UK uni's for sporting culture. LSE has no sporting facilities as such (remember it's just a small social sciences college compared to the huge NYU).
